Unable to book online using e-Certificates
In the past, I would be able to book using e-Certificates through the website (it would be automatically selected on the booking page through points). I wasted 35K points recently because I thought it booked using the certificate but actually deducted my points... :eek:
Going back in to the website and mobile app, it seems like the option to book using certificates is not available anymore even when points redemptions are available. Checked a number of hotels and none of my e-Certificates show up. It worked fine about 1/2 a year ago so I'm wondering how to book using e-Certificates now. |
Just tried it and my certs are showing up when I try to reserve a room.
Search for availability for points redemption, select room, go to reservation page and given option to use certs or points. Default is set to pull the certs. |
It doesn't give me the option to use certs (only points) which is why I'm confused. If it matters, this is the first time I'm attempting to use an SPG cert because in the past, I only had a Marriott Chase Visa but I opened up an SPG Amex due to the merger (the card has changed names but the cert is listed as SPG).

Do you see the cert listed in your account? If so, book the room with points, call customer service and ask them to exchange for the available cert.
I do find it easier to book certs using the website vs the app. |
I can only book via the website when using the single night certificates and never the app. Are you dates of stay before the cert expiration and within the number of pts allowed? Certs are no longer category based (for the most part from CC)
