FAQ from Jan 19/22 email from Marriott:

Can I Still Order Travel Package Awards?

Information on Marriott Bonvoy® Travel Packages
No. Due to varying factors such as low volume in demand, we are no longer selling Travel Package Awards as of January 19, 2022.

Q: What happens to the Travel Package Award I already have in my Account?

If you have a Travel Package Award attached to an existing Reservation, rest assured, we will be honoring your stay and no additional action is required.

Please Note:
The airline miles portion of the Travel Package Award was deposited to you at the time of purchase of the Travel Package Award and, therefore, will not be refunded.

Q: What happens if I need to modify or cancel my Travel Package Award redemption Reservation after March 2, 2022?

If you modify or cancel a Redemption Reservation that has a Travel Package Award attached to it after March 2, 2022, you must contact Member Support to cancel the Travel Package Award, after which you will receive a full Marriott Bonvoy® Point refund for the Hotel portion of the Award. Please visit https://www.marriott.com/help/loyalt...mer-support.mi to find the appropriate Member Support phone number based on your geographic location.

Q: How many Points will I be refunded?

Members will receive a full Marriott Bonvoy® Points refund for the Hotel portion of the Travel Package Award. The refund will be based on the current Points redemption category levels and will equal the sum of the Peak Points Redemption Rate per each Night of the Travel Package Award, at the highest category for which the Award was eligible. The airline miles portion of the Travel Package Award was deposited to you at the time of purchase of the Travel Package Award and, therefore, will not be refunded.

Hi pazza2000,

We will be communicating additional program details as they become available, and we get closer to March 2022.

It certainly would be good to understand the changes to the travel packages well in advance of March 2022 so we can make informed decisions...

I suspect they're getting tired of extending packages that are already over four years beyond initial expiration date.

Nobody forced them to do this ... they could have ended it with the last extension to 1/3/22. I used my last one ... all gone now.

If they extend them again and again they ought to have a policy a place how to handle them.

Exactly, and here is hoping we hear that policy sooner than later. I’m hopeful for a further extension, and would see it as arguably fair located in a part of Europe where travel is currently restricted.

Why not? Granted it's nowhere near the value it was a few years ago, but it might be the last chance to get outsized value without having a set idea of what hotel to book pre-March. I'm thinking of getting one, but, like others, I'd like some more details from Marriott.

Per VFTW, TP are dead from next week https://viewfromthewing.com/marriott...m=BoardingArea

Does not bode well for us with the end of redemption charts - looks like the coming devaluation will be rough

I wonder what they will do to existing packages if they are going to eliminate the whole travel package idea.

be ready for popcorn and fireworks because those that still have packages from pre-2018 will be all ready for a battle . This and wanting another extension.

i can’t imagine the conversion to go well. Might as well just give out the points at the current level and category level and be done with but that will be too generous for Bonvoy.

Marriott Eliminating Travel Packages Jan 19, 2022

Has there been a thread on this? I loved these before they devalued them. Seems like they are going away totally now. According to an update to the program’s terms and conditions which was unannounced,
3.14 Hotel and Air Travel Packages
Effective January 19, 2022, Hotel and Air Travel Packages are no longer available for purchase.

Can travel packages be used for a portion of a booking? For example, if i booked 10 nights, can I use the travel package to pay for 7 out of 10 of them, and then points for the rest, or do I need to book 2 separate reservations? Thanks!
