Does every W hotel have the worst service out of all the Marriott brands?

Trying to get my room at the W in Atlanta. I had requested an early check in, but I know there is no guarantee. Would be nice if they at least had the room ready by standard check in time. Nope.

Had the same issues in Barcelona and New York recently.

My lifetime titanium elite with Ambassador pro whatever means nothing when checking in to the W brand.

Several other service complaints that I could overlook if I could get checked in.

Disappointing. Sad.

What time did they tell you the room would be ready? When was it ready at your other two W stays?

FWIW, LTT+AMB isn't worth the paper it's printed on at many different Marriott brands

I would have to agree. Of course, FTers as a group are well known for hyperbole.

Guess I've had pretty good service at the 4 Ws I've stayed at this year ... Scottsdale, SOBE, Miami Brickell, NYC Union Square. Suite upgrades on every stay, a GM who overrode the front desk on a late checkout, and friendly staff. I wish the breakfast benefit was consistent.

Haven't stayed in Atlanta in a while but met the GM once and he was solid. I'm assuming this is an unusual situation.

Clearly this is a question whose answer is no, but the Ws in the US and Atlanta in general struggle between wanting to be both cheap and cool, often failing at either or both.

Outside of the US service in Ws varies widely, but I do think it is true that the hotel is often guilty of choosing to bring in staff seen as more cool and creating a cool vibe at the cost of delivering often basic customer service. From the beginning, great or even friendly customer service was never part of the core brand principles so does sometimes get left behind a bit (the W Barcelona is a serial offender).

Did you ask for Your24? If so, was the request approved?

Maybe it is an Atlanta thing, my friend stayed at the Hilton and room was not ready at checkin time.

But I have not had good service at W's either. Room may be cool, but staff is not (or maybe too cool to provide good service)

In my experience Ws target market is the freshly minted MBA consultant type with a few tech bros thrown in for fun (and dont forget the travel bloggers!). The level of service seems justified for their targets. They focus more on providing an Instagramable experience than any service. Gotta boost their customer likes!

Stay at a real Marriott or Westin if you want better service.

Recently had great stays at the W Hong Kong and Paris. I have also always had impeccable service in Bangkok, but Im not a huge fan of the hard product or location there so stay elsewhere

I had a weeklong stay at the W Bangkok last month and my stay - service included - neared perfection. The service I received was professional, competent, and gracious.
As a result, I am only more interested in the W brand, not less...
YMMV.

Is the WHATEVER WHENEVER still a thing or did they just do away with it?

I would say based on my W stays (used to be a huge fan of the brand, still am, though to much lesser extent), it's safe to generalize that those outside the US (particularly those in Asia) are quite extraordinary both in hard and soft products. Those in Europe, less so (W Leicester sq comes to mind) but still pretty darn good,,, then you have those in the US, especially those in NYC that are the worst of the pack. Even the W Union Square that everyone raves about, if the service level there was put side by side with, say, W Taipei, W KL or even the W Paris, would be laughed at...
