Expecting your customers to hunt them out using a single-keyword search function is absurd.
FWIW, most everyone used of the old SPG ‘Hot Escapes’ function by browsing the list/map of properties on sale, not searching for them.

I posted a similar question earlier but it looks like it may have gotten deleted. I tested this rate in Orlando, which is one of the cities listed on the landing page, for some weekend dates in the coverage period. This "20% off" rate is only $4 per night lower than the prepaid rates I'm seeing at the properties that will offer the rate ($129 vs. $133 and $153 vs. $157 if I'm remembering right). Where does "20%" come from?

No. It’s not at all intuitive that you should do so, having already been told your destination doesn’t exist.
Having done so now, I see the same. I’ve also set some dates, which now show on the screen as “Fri May - Sat May”.
This sort of stuff isn’t even worthy of the IT intern.

Edit: I noticed you are using the link Lurker provided. Just use the Marriott home page and it should work fine.

Where is the difference between the old rate and the (advertised) new offer?
Again, I am more disorientated, after the previous Flash Sale and now this...

....just booked a room at the Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa for Memorial Day weekend for the lovely Mrs. Newman and myself for the ridiculously low rate of $116.00 per night.
A fantastic deal using the Marriott Bonvoy Escapes code.
Another GREAT Marriott promotion!

Suppose one is booking a hotel "normally" on the Starriott website that offers these rates for the dates in question. Does this special rate plan show up automatically or must one input this specific code? For instance, if I just look for prepaid or package rates, will I see these rates if they're available?

That being said, I had a look at a Marriott properties for that weekend and I would suggest the Marquis, the Westin City Center, or if you're into something more historic, the Mayflower. All are pricing out quite reasonably and are well-located.
This being under the presumption that you're price-sensitive (hence caring about the promotion); otherwise book the St. Regis or the Ritz, duh.
