just thought i'd throw this out there in case it's of use to anyone.
i had an amex spg card perhaps six or seven years ago, maybe more. i wanted to find out if i was eligible for the bonus so i called amex and i told them that i wasn't sure if i had the card before. the agent said that there was no record of me having the card and that i was eligible for the bonus.
i applied, got the card, and now a statement has come and i got the 60k points.
so this goes to show that "lifetime" is up for interpretation.
I will keep the card but not really use since i can get a huge value out of the annual one night for CAD120 .

data points, not complaints in any way:
i had the spg card since the mbna days then i got foisted to amex (june 2010), kept the card, then cancelled june 2018. this was before the 18 aug 2018 merge and switchover date of both programs.
in "my account" on the amex website, the spg card i cancelled shows up as the amex bonvoy card, which i never intended to, nor did i ever, own, but i guess i inherently did "because the company simply changed names sir". even though i cancelled my spg pre merger.
i re-signed up june 2019, was told at time of my acceptance that i will get the bonus,
i called last night, and the agent said i am not eligible for any bonus. i called this morning and was told the same. i called this evening, spoke to a supervisor and this has been a firm no despite my loyalty to amex including a plat card i own.
yeah not my case due to above. i'm annoyed but not aggrieved. no elite night bonus was posted, as i have been told i am not eligible for the bonus points, and i guess by extension bonus points same way.
so buyer beware. i wasn't even trying to churn in bad faith like i do some other cc, i just wanted out at the end of spg, then a year later i thought i'd give the bonvoy card a chance, and the agent says i'm getting a bonus, and it turns out i'm not. i'll just stick with the cobalt card moving forward as i dine out and take taxi/subway/ride share a lot, and the value in that case is tremendously better.
question: if i refer myself from this consumer bonvoy to bonvoy business am i still eligible for a bonus? i just started a business and i have never owned a business bonvoy card nor any amex business card.

i assume you mean you cancelled your card 6-7 years ago? i'd say cancelling it during way back in the spg days before the 'once in a lifetime' clause came into effect 2-3 years ago and then signing up during the new bonvoy days would be a different lifetime so a slam dunk, compared to me where i cancelled 2 months before spg became bonvoyyyyy, and i'm learning that....

Even if you didn't get the bonus signup points you SHOULD still get the 15 elite nights. Those are a yearly benefit unrelated to whether or not you've held similar cards in the past. (Unless you've already received 15 nights for this year from either a Canadian or US card)
To be eligible to receive the 15 Elite Night Credits with this Card, you must be the Basic Cardmember, your Card Account must be in good standing at the time of the 15 Elite Night Credit deposit, and you must have an active Marriott Bonvoy program account. To receive the 15 Elite Night Credit deposit, your Card Account must be linked to a Marriott Bonvoy program account in your name. You will receive a maximum of 15 Elite Night Credits per calendar year even if you have more than one Marriott Bonvoy Consumer or Small Business credit card account or have more than one Marriott Bonvoy program account. American Express is not responsible for fulfillment of this benefit. It will take approximately 8 weeks from Card Account approval date for the credits to be applied to your loyalty account.
which cards? the new one or the old one or both? if you're talking about the old one, then no. it showed up as a spg but then post merger it showed up as a marriott. do you really think it would have made a difference? not like that would delete me out of the amex system

My personal Marriott Amex statement month ended on July 17 but still the 3K+ points have not yet posted to my Marriott account - strange, it typically posts around the 20th of the month.
Has anyone encountered the same?

My Jul statement month ended at around the same time and I am still missing 4K+ points. Mine have always posted within a few days of the statement month's end until now. Called Amex who confirmed that the 4K points had been sent to Marriott as usual. Called Marriott who had no record of this. Marriott Rep opened a case for me. Am still waiting.

Now I'm completely confused. I have had the US Marriott Chase Visa for 10 years for which I receive 15 elite nights per year. I have also had the Canadian Chase Marriott Visa card for about 4 years and always received the 15 elite night for both of these cards. Some posters say you cannot get the 15 nights on both of these cards and some posters say you can receive them both. I still have the US Chase Marriott Visa card and as of last year I have the Canadian Amex Bonvoy card. Can I collect elite nights on both of these cards?
A maximum of 15 Elite Night credits will be provided per Marriott Bonvoy program member account even if the member has more than one credit card linked to their Marriott Bonvoy account.

I guess this is something new. Every year I have received 30 elite credit nights by owning one US card and one Canadian card. Did they change it up this year?
