Vacation club sucks
hey I’m so excited to be here do I get my platinum welcome gift?

You betcha Sir welcome to Vacation Club where you get the pro ledge of paying us tens of thousands of dollars to use points for slight discount off an expierience that constantly reminds you that we don’t care about you!
why anyone buys those those points I don’t know my company Vacation Wealth partners invests in vacation rentals I’ve had a few investors recently tell me they bought in to vacation club and they showed me their annual dues and what they get I literally get better deals staying at the same properties as a platinum member.
anyway I wanted to whine and complain a bit because we recently moved to Tahoe and the only hotels here are vacation club which means when I go to use them as an office I get punched in the face on a regular basis.

So says the king of spam. Really, all you have to do is read what Vacation Club offers plats. It's in black and white. 1000 points....that's about it. I'm currently at a Tahoe property. Nice unit, full kitchen. It's where I go to do laundry and cook a meal or two.

The property delivered exactly what the OP should have expected, and what it advertises, but it "sucks". I can't wait for the next review where the OP eats an apple and tells us it sucks because it didn't taste like an orange.

It would be helpful for OP to return and in clear language explain how the property failed to deliver on the agreement he himself accepted. Rather than writing in the forn of a non-existent narrative, better to show us his specific concerns regarding what he was promised and what he got.

If someone is looking to maximize elite benefits and treatment, then the OP is correct. MVCI properties aren't going to get you much in the way of elite benefits. Now there is some good reasons behind that. MVCI properties are not hotels and are not run as a hotel. They are a timeshare which limits what Marriott and/or the property managers can do. So if your hoping for some nice upgrades, lounge access, etc, then MVCI properties probably isn't the best place to look.
With that said, I personally love to stay at MVCI properties. They are usually very nice and well kept up and they usually come with much more space (i.e. 1, 2 or even 3 bedroom suites.) Last year stayed at the Grand Chateau in Las Vegas instead of the Cosmo. It cost the same amount of points, but I got a 2 bedroom suite, no resort fees and free parking. Much better option. I've stayed at many of the Orlando and Hawaii MVCI properties as well over the years. When traveling with the family it is very nice to have all that extra space (for little to no extra points.) But if it were just my spouse and I, I don't need that extra space and having more "resort" amenities and elite benefits would be more important.
It all depends on what each person is looking for and what is important to them for that particular trip.

I stay at the Grand Chateau when I'm in Vegas for conferences. The location is great and there is no casino and no clouds of smoke to navigate which are both key features for me. I don't care about free breakfast or lounge access as I'm on the companies dime.

Compared to places I like to stay, vacation club properties don't offer much.
But if you have a family and want an apartment like setting to stay for a few days, seems like a really good option. Of course, they don't offer breakfast because the whole purpose of a property like this is that everyone has a fridge and a kitchen. There's a reason these properties sell out.
And doesn't your business model offer mostly the same thing, less the property amenities?

I have also stayed at the Grand Chateau in Vegas and imho it is a good property if you are with young children for those same reasons. The 1 bedroom villas are great and there are numerous activities as well. The location is a short walk away from the Cosmopolitan, too.

no upgrades
no water in rooms
no room service by design
no late check out
pretty much none of the benefits from Marriott rewards. To be clear I haven’t purchased the timeshare option I’m merely forced to either stay here when I’m in Tahoe or go to a different brand I’m strongly considering doing holiday inn but I honestly am so obsessed with Marriott I haven’t paid for a room from another major chain in 7 years so my complaints come out love and a desire for improvements to be made so I can continue to be loyal to the parent brand. Sounds like I’m the only one that feels this way so if everyone else likes not getting any of your rewards benefits keep rocking that’s great but it’s not my cup of tea!
