Is it best to convert points to miles w the devaluation?
 

I'm a little behind, but understand there's a big devaluation tomorrow. Is it best to convert to miles now? Is there still the bonus like with SPG 20k-->25k? Or is a travel package a better value? (do they still have those?)

i left Marriott a few years ago for Hilton but still have 2.5M points so want to burn them today if it makes sense to.

there’s no big devaluation coming up. a few properties will go up in category while others are going down, with a new cat. 8 becoming operational and the annual category changes entering into force. Some time later this year, yet to be announced, Marriott will start applying their peak and off-peak award rates chart.

Yes, there's still a transfer bonus (now 60K=>75K). There are still travel packages, but they are a bit less generous than they used to be. Neither of those is affected at all by any further announced devaluation, so you're best off waiting - there's no need to do any transfer or package unless/until you have plans to use the miles or the package hotel stay.

No hurry at this point unless you have a favorite Cat 7 hotel that is going up to Cat 8. The bonpoints to airline miles ratio and bonus is miraculously the same as SPG. 60k bonpoints=25k airline miles. Travel packages are now a weak value.
