SpringHill Suites Pensacola Beach It would have been nice if these were actual drawers. Why wouldn’t they do that?

then housekeeping would have to take the extra 10 seconds to clean it out after a guest checks out

It's really quite simple: you lack the status to open them.

Who the heck knows? Think of all of the other benefits they tell you have that you really don't.

That's it. Special magnetic cards to unlock the drawers are one of the Welcome Amenities choices afforded to Marriott Bonvoy Rhodium Ambassador+ Elite members.

It's cheaper: initial cost of the furniture, housekeeping, and repairs (labor and materials).

They probably heard my friend complain about finding a used syringe in a drawer and wanted to avoid similar incidents.

It also avoids liability issues of having toddlers open the drawers and using them as a sort of ladder to climb onto the top of the furniture and then falling or knocking over the piece of furniture onto them.

It could be where they are hiding all of the electronics for the WiFi in the room. I'm guessing that theres a bunch of electronics behind there that they don't want customers to get their hands on. I've stayed at hotels where where the WiFi didn't work and the front desk would send someone up and they would pop a panel such as the one in the picture and reset the modem.

Possibly where the outlet is for the microwave and fridge, and if there are drawers elsewhere in the room (I think the AAA standard is still three operable drawers), then they may have just spec'd the furniture as false fronts.
