Does paying for stay in Ritz-Carlton (mexico) triggers $300 annual credit? I recently stayed there (about 15 days ago) but have not seen credit being posted yet

Yes, this should give you credit of up to $300 towards your $300 annual credit. Did you already use your annual credit?

Not yet. AF posted on April 17th. CSR confirmed I should get the credit. Its been 16 days since charge posted. Usually, I get it in 3-4 days.

Amex is starting to "respect" the "up to" number in their various terms. My favorite are their various "up to" 3-5, 5-7, or 7-10 week terms. Jist f'ing say "in 5,7, or 10 weeks".

My card anniversary date is April 3rd. I was wrongly informed about credit by CSR in prior conversation (AF posting date). I had hotel charges on April 15th so did get $300 credit (which I thought was for previous year based on my discussion with CSR) however it went for current year . Now I need to figure out creative way to recoup the last year fee

If you have it in writing or it was stated in a phone call, contest it. Amex records all calls and while they'll resist, will often honor a bad statement by a CSR even in a phone call.

Thus, folks can "double-dip" to get a $600 credit to their account within a year.
Darn. My Amex Bonvoy Brilliant cardmember anniversary is October 2022.
I’m guessing that in my case, I will not have a chance to double dip to get the full $600 credit within a year.

If I understand this correctly, with my anniversary date, I probably have the least upside from the change, with perhaps $25 more in annual credits (for September 2022) than I would’ve otherwise earned?

Yeah, bad timing on your part. If you were to open a new card today, you could use the $300 in August or September and then get the restaurant credit starting in October. So close to 600 in credits

I agree with your thoughts. My understanding is below:

If your sign up date for the card was after 9/22 you will not be able to get the existing 300 Marriott credit. After 9/22, you would get the new dining credit monthly.

My sign up was 9/1 so I will be able to claim the 300 Marriott credit as long as it occurs between 9/1-9/22. After 9/22 then the monthly dining credit can be used.

I'm assuming I'm in the same boat. My renewal date is August 24th. Does that mean I have 4 weeks to spend the $300 Marriott statement credit and then after Sept 22nd, they will give me another $300 via monthly restaurant credits? Is that correct?

yes i believe so. you can always chat AMEX to confirm if your $300 benefit reset yet before using. But i think you should be fine

Thats plenty of time, since you can use the credit for a gift card on the website

My understanding is that purchasing the gift card online gives you 6X points on the purchase but does not qualify for the $300 statement credit. The $300 statement credit can only be attained by purchasing the gift card at a Marriott hotel.

All those who applied and got approved for the Amex SPG Luxury Card (now called the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant) on the very first day that it was made available which is August 23 2018 will have their $300 credit for this year available Aug 23-Aug 24 and essentially have less than one month to trigger it for this year.

Yeah, I have chat access so will try on it. Worst case scenario, I plan to get all $25 credit before next renewal so impact will be less.
