Understanding 'Extra' Points
 

Hey all,

New to Marriott loyalty - did a Platinum challenge late 2018 and became Platinum Dec 28.

Anyways, I'm trying to understand how point accrual works and something doesn't make sense to me. The 'Extra Points' which I suspect are the Welcome Choice points, they don't seem to make sense to me. Here's all my 2019 stays (all of which are done as a platinum, all of which points were chosen at check in).

Does it seem like I'm getting extra points at the Westin hotel and the rest are giving me standard? Or the Westin is giving me standard and the rest are ripping me off?

I also checked I have 0 promotions occurring right now which would affect this.

What are people's thoughts?

You need to give a few more details about your stays.

Dates
Number of nights for each stay
Whether you chose Make A Green Choice at each property
Whether you were registered for the MegaBonus

Without these details nobody can begin to explain your Extras column.

All of these occurred in January, during weekdays - trying to avoid exact dates for privacy.

I've gone back and added the nights per stay and the green choices where available.

I was registered for the MegaBonus - I think this is what is causing this - the 2 night stays are triggering the bonus.

You also should state what your Platinum bonus was....Did you take the points at check-in or did you take breakfast? Those also filter into the 'extra' category

Marriott system lumps everything not part of Base or Elite bonus into extra. Extra can be welcome amenity, bonus promotion, rate bonus, MAGC, compensation or whatever you can think of. It is a catch all.

The main options that can make up the extra for you are going to be:
2000 points for 2+ night stays before Jan 31 from Megabonus
1000 point platinum amenity at full-service properties, 500 point platinum amenity at limited service properties (like Courtyard). You don't get this if you choose to take breakfast as your platinum amenity.
500 point green choice per night at full-service properties, 250 at limited service -- can't earn on check-out day so would be 500 points for a 2-night stay at a full-service property, which describes all of your green choice stays

So the second Westin stay looks right for example. Megabonus + full service hotel platinum amenity + full service hotel green choice = 3500.

The first two look to be missing the green choice points, assuming you also took the platinum amenity points on those two stays. (If you didn't take the platinum amenity points on those stays, then you have too many extra points.) If the first Delta stay was before Jan 31, you'd also be missing the Megabonus points there.

All the one-night stays appear to have just the platinum amenity (other than the special lounge construction points as you note), which makes sense because you can't take green choice on a one-night stay and Megabonus wasn't valid on one-night stays.

My 2000-point MegaBonus for a 2-night stay in December posted along with the base & elite points for that stay. But my 1000-point brand bonuses were listed as part of the report for each eligible stay, but had not been added to my balance as of yesterday, so I phoned in & got an "Omaha Center Adjustment." I had been told that the brand bonuses would arrive sometime in February for who-knows-what reason.
So I bet it's the OP's brand bonuses!

Erome, check your account tomorrow. Sometimes Marriott adds the line explaining what the points are for a day after adding the points to the total. Or is that Hilton?
Or phone Bonvoy CS to ask.
Whenever the brand bonuses appear, I expect them to appear in a new line on the account.

I've never had a breakdown. As per the T&C, the brand bonii from Megabonus probably won't post until late March.
