Get ready for Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy — the new name for Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and SPG — launches February 13. Get ready for a fresh perspective on our travel program.

With the launch so close, we want to make sure you have what you need to make the most of Marriott Bonvoy. Start by adding [email protected] to your safe-sender listto make sure you don’t miss any Marriott Bonvoy communications.

Here’s your checklist to get started:

*Review Category changes: This year’s category changes will take effect on March 5. The overall percentage of hotels changing categories is smaller than in the past five years. Only 5 percent of our portfolio will be affected by the annual category changes process (excluding the arrival of Category 8). Some hotels in popular destinations are moving down a category, like W Hollywood, The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa Phuket and Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa. Pro tip: Check out the hotels moving to decide when to book.

*New Free Night Award Category 8 coming soon: Category 8 hotel redemption rates will take effect March 5. Pro tip: Explore all categories now and decide if you want to book before or after March 5 to maximize your points.

*Manage everything in one place — combine your accounts. If you haven’t already combined your Marriott Rewards and SPG accounts, do so now to add up your nights and points in one streamlined account.

*The Marriott app will become the Marriott Bonvoy App — download it now. On February 13, the SPG and Ritz-Carlton Rewards apps will be deactivated, and you’ll need the Marriott app to manage your account. If you don’t have the Marriott app yet, download it now.

*Get faster service — update your phone number: Add a phone number to your profile so we’ll recognize you when you call Member Support.

This belongs in https://www.reddit.com/r/ShittyLifeProTips/ because Marriott reward booking web/call in/chat(huh???) is a steaming pile.

Yes. Works now.

Edit: Well, kind of. Takes you to the list with the current redemption rates where you can click on a link to the pdf with the changes.

What are we getting ready for? Besides a new name and a handful a category 8 hotels changing to the new pricing level I don’t really see much to “get ready for..”
  • the app is automatically changing over
  • the category changes having been happening annually since the beginning of time
  • no mention of peak vs off-peak award pricing
  • no mention of the new status levels
is there something positive that’s happening that we should get ready for? There are literally zero positives happening from a customer perspective.

Agreed. And I am so not a fan of the new name that will be appearing everywhere.

Personally, I think the 2/13 changes are positive for at least some customers. Currently, there is a lot of confusion regarding the levels at properties and I believe it is one of the factors leading properties to not follow the rules ... to the extent their failure to follow the rules for benign reasons, they are just confused.

Legacy SPG properties were already used to almost any business traveler being platinum and failing to distinguish between someone who traveled two nights a month and someone who travelled 125 nights a year. Marriott used to have a distinction but now almost all business travelers at Marriott properties are "Platinum."

So, as a major positive, there will be an obvious distinction so I'm hopeful that those of us who are Ambassador or Titanium level will have better experiences on the property.

Last I checked (this minute)- not available on Google Play....
or is it named something other than Marriott?

---
let me take a guess it is still called Marriott Rewards and it just updates to the new program?

----
Well, tried that and won't let me sign in with my email or account number. So much for progress...

Feels like the third deval this year all under the name of merging the programs. I've been successfully conditioned now, anytime there is an announcement about one more incremental step towards integrating the programs, to also expect another devaluation in the form of negative category changes. At what point do they just copy the Hilton program entirely and get rid of an award chart so they can devalue all award rates without making a formal announcement every few months? They already stole the United blueprint on how to botch a merger, the World of Hyatt playbook on how to botch a loyalty program relaunch, so Hilton-like changes don't seem that far off anymore. All that's left is to add in basic-economy rooms where there's restricted warm water and A/C use and you have to pay if you didn't bring a blank magstripe card for them to code the room to.

Where in this announcement does it say the status names are changing?

Anybody knows why they selected 2/13 - such an odd date in the middle of a week - to make the change? Normally these IT teams like to do the updates over the weekends.

Agreed that the Bonvoy webpage continues poor communication but ....

The launch of Marriott Bonvoy will introduce two new names for previous Elite status tier names:
– Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite will replace Platinum Premier Elite for members who surpass 75 nights.
– Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite will replace Platinum Premier Elite with Ambassador. This top Elite status tier recognizes members who surpass 100 nights and more than $20,000 in spend annually. These members enjoy the highest level of personalization with a dedicated ambassador to help plan their travel and cater to their needs one-on-one.

Marriott International Announces Marriott Bonvoy ? The New Brand Name Of Its Loyalty Program | Marriott News Center

Isn't this a definite positive?
