Has anyone stayed here? Normally I would stay at the FS, but given that its under renovation as the moment.
Generally not a fan of St. Regis post Mormon Bonvoy takeover

Mini-review from stay this month (Feb 2020):
  • Booked a Deluxe Room, got upgraded (without SNA use) to a St Regis Suite as an Ambassador member (‘thank you for your loyalty’)
  • I had looked at SNA use beforehand and St Regis Suite & Governors Suite were both available; the latter was still available for sale on day of check in, but as my stay was around 28hrs, I didn’t request a change at check in
  • Arrived late (after 0100hrs local) due to the time of my flight; as you’d expect night staff on duty, so check in was fine, if not overly friendly. Was escorted to room by same member of staff who checked me in
  • Shown around room, including welcome gift of local bread, olives, olive oil and spices
  • Requested some tea from the butler service – somehow this got lost in translation and it came from room service, attracting a small charge: it was late, I wasn’t fussed at the small charge, so didn’t fight it
  • Excellent breakfast in the main restaurant – buffet offering; not told if there was a menu to order items from in addition to what was on show, but there was plenty of choices – hot/cold and Western/Eastern that were more than plenty to satisfy me [breakfast was included in my rate, so I took the 1000pts welcome gift]
  • Tried to use the spa, but was told it was fully booked for both the day I was there and the day after
  • Attended the sabre ceremony and given a complimentary glass of champagne (both my wife & I)
  • The Jameed Mary (the Amman version of the Bloody Mary) was excellent and I enjoyed this in the bar – the quirk being that although the hotel is non-smoking throughout internally, that doesn’t include the bar
  • Early wake up call & morning beverages on day 2 were brought to room without any issue and exactly what was needed for an 0500 start

All in all – nothing I can fault from the property, just somehow didn’t feel quite as special as some of my other St R stays (this is the 6th property I’ve stayed in, and 8th I’ve visited). Not sure if this is because I didn’t make contact beforehand or because my arrival/departure times were such that they didn’t interact with the day time staff.

Would I go back? Possibly. Depends on the rate and depends on my plans in the city.

We stayed here on holiday for four nights last month. We loved everything about this hotel, from the decor, to the room, the breakfast and staff.

I'm an ambassador, and they upgraded us to a ~1,200 sqft suite with a full kitchen 2 days before arrival. It was probably the nicest, and definitely the largest suite I've ever been upgraded to within my ~700 nights with Marriott.

The breakfast buffet was really great. And I can't speak more highly of the staff. So many of them remembered my names and went out of their way to make it a memorable stay.

Overall I loved the hotel. Probably one of my favorite StRs out of the 10 or so I've stayed at.

I recently stayed at the StR in Amman after staying at the Marriotts in Petra and the Dead Sea Resort. Originally booked a Deluxe King and applied a SNA for the Governor's Suite (SNA was approved). I have to say the StR was very solid on the hard product but it was lacking in a lot of amenities and the service was so-so... The breakfast spread was quite exceptional though and I didn't take a lot of photos unfortunately but here's some and I really enjoyed the Cigar Lounge in the StR Bar. As an Ambassador I received some recognition but feel like the StR Cairo did much more in this area with the softer aspects of the product that I expect from a StR.

Anyone here that would recommend the W Hotel over this St. Regis? About a $75/nt price difference to stay at the St. Regis.

Here now. Titanium. Applied a SNA for our first two nights (of three) and upgrade to the Governor’s Suite, a 1,500ft affair that is quite beautiful on the top floor (16).
There is a 17th floor but that is a restaurant and lounge, Zenith.

Only here one night so far but going great.

August 2022 - 3 nights

We booked a Grand Deluxe room for two nights where standard room rates were $375+/nt. and used a 50k FNA + topped up with 10k points for the third night. Applied an SNA for the first two nights and we were upgraded to the 16th floor Governor’s Suite, a whopping 139sqm (~1500sqf) one bedroom affair complete with kitchenette, dishwasher, separate office that runs about usd $1k/nt. Easily one of the best upgrades I have ever gotten.

During a stay here, one can expect a violinist every night from 8 to 10 PM except for Sundays, a happening pool scene on Saturdays with DJ, a great rooftop restaurant Zenith with DJ spinning six days a week (closed Sundays) and as one would expect good service.

We were offered complementary breakfast and it is a very lavish affair with many options served on the first floor at Mercato, their Italian restaurant. Two of the other restaurants are also located on this floor.

While our room was absolutely amazing and the inside of the hotel and the restaurants are all top-notch there are a few things that keep me from giving our stay exemplary marks. We spent time at the pool and it’s large but very cookie-cutter, no wow factor. The buildings exterior architecturally did nothing at all for me.
And then the service failures. We did not get turn down service any of the evenings, even after mentioning it via chat after the first two missed nights. We had an early morning tour planned and arranged the day prior for breakfast and coffee to go. The coffee orders were simple but specific (iced coffee and a latte), but yet we received hot black coffee. Again, none of these are a big deal but this is the St Regis after all.

There are a few standout staff members we dealt with including Lana the head concierge who is just on top of it.
Romeo who works the St Regis bar and did the sabrage ceremony.

Pro tips:
1. For the rooftop Zenith, sit outside by the DJ in the lounge section and make reservations ahead of time. It gets full. Arrive after dinner, or have dinner there. It gets going by 10pm
2. Sabrage is on Thursday and Friday only at the moment, 630pm sharp on the stairs outside of the St Regis bar
3. Download and use Careem to get around by taxi. But have patience bc drivers will cancel or not show up.
4. For casual but very good Jordanian dining, only 10 min walk away try this place, order the fish with rice. They also have an art gallery.

5. If you are planning on traveling by ground btwn Amman and Tel Aviv, budget 10 hours door to door. You likely don't need to pay the $100pp for VIP service if it is not terribly busy, we didn't and were fine. Better option is to fly direct AMM-TLV but RJ only runs those flights 3x a week.

Well, it's a shame that the St Regis is close to the Ritz-Carlton as it's hard to not compare the two properties. Of course, the St Regis is the older property - though, my take is that it's not THAT old and should be in better condition than it is. I left with mixed feelings and felt like the extra 11 JOD I spent at the Ritz was worth it (the STR rate was 6 JOD higher than the RC, and I paid 17 JOD for breakfast at the RC - hence the 11 JOD mentioned). Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to a St. Regis Suite either the evening before or morning of arrival - this is their base suite tier and is technically a full suite with separation between the living room and bedroom
  • The bed was quite comfortable - plush pillows, plush mattress, plush covers
  • Shower pressure from the wand head was very strong
  • View from the balcony was quite nice - Amman is a pretty city with the sea of buildings and Abdoun Bridge in the distance
  • Working 110 V toothbrush charger
  • Nice arrival experience
    • Met on the street corner by a valet who carried my luggage and escorted me up the mall elevator to the hotel lobby (I think they were surprised I was walking from the Ritz)
    • Mustafa at check- in was very friendly and kept apologizing that he was on the phone when I arrived
    • Escorted to the St Regis Bar to get a cappuccino and wait 10 minutes for my room to be ready - bar staff was quite friendly and explained the meaning behind the horse mural
    • I asked for 2 PM late checkout - Mustafa apologized for not asking himself and told me he would code my keys for 3 PM
  • Left a box of tasty macarons and 3 oranges as a welcome amenity
  • Elite breakfast as a welcome gift was tasty - full buffet in the restaurant from 6:30 to 11
    • Yummy cheese flatbread and hot and crispy hashbrowns
    • Lots of pastry choices
    • My beef sausage and cheese omelet was good
  • Turndown service provided
Cons:
  • Some definitely build quality / wear-and-tear concerns
    • Bedroom door had a loose handle and did not fit within the door frame - causing me to almost get stuck in the bedroom as I couldn't dislodge it and the loose handle did not provide significant leverage - I finally wiggled enough to get out
    • Aspects of the build-out appeared cheaper or more worn than they should in a hotel of this age
    • Shower door was far too stiff and hard to move and somehow did not keep water from getting on the floor
    • Thin windows with little outdoor noise isolation
    • One of the bedside LED lights could not be turned off and was perpetually partially on
    • Outlets were hard to plug things in to - leaving many plugs loose
  • Room doors slammed way too loudly, startling me everytime my neighbors exited or entered
  • More cleanliness misses than I would expect at a hotel of this class - stray hairs, minor debris in drawers, etc.
  • Two of the macarons were tasty and fresh while two were very stale and inedible
  • Service at breakfast was lacking - "what do you want?" "Are there omelets or Benedicts?" "Omelet - what do you want inside?" "Sausage and cheese" "Turkey" "do you have beef sausage?" "Yeah, on the buffet" "can it be put in the omelet?" - the server then just walked away and came back in a bit with the omelet I requested - just seemed a bit abrupt
Overall, I think I would come back if the Ritz was significantly more expensive. It's just not as polished as I would have wanted.
