I actually fired off an email to Marriott yesterday asking if these count for 2020 status!
But this interpretation makes so much more sense, that they only count for current year earnings, not lifetime totals.
Why don't they convey that more clearly? Just write - "Elite Night Credits earned during this promotion don't count for lifetime totals".

I mentioned I got it before, but didn't mention I was registered in Europe.

Question about double nights promo
I was targeted and signed up for the double elite nights promo, for stays "now through June 30th, 2019". My question is, would a stay from June 30 to July 1 get double credit ? The stay would begin during the promotional period but end afterwards.

No. You would have to check in before Jun 30 (ie Jun 29 or earlier).

I’ve now received a free night certificate as part of the targeted offer. However, I do not seem to be able to use it. Doing some searching, I’ve read that Marriott Rewards would in the past allow you to start a points booking and then select the certificate at the last moment before booking - I don’t seem to have that option on the current site (it just states that 35,000 points will be deducted from my account).
Any help would be appreciated.
