Disaster of a merger!

On a technical process side every encounter I've had with the new Marriott has been defective.

Latest example today an email telling me I have until February 7th to pick my annual choice benefit. It provides a link, which actually does open to a page (so there is some progress there), but then when you click the button to sign in to select your choice, I get a 504 gateway error. I've tried to access this sign in page via chrome and firefox. Also, I have the AMEX luxury card, which is supposed to give me 15 elite nights credit, I've called customer "service" and they confirm I have the card and it's linked to my account, but yet the nights still don't show up. They pass the buck on to AMEX who of course, passes it right back to Marriott (which I am inclined to believe is the owner of the error).

With all the glitches I've encountered, I don't trust Marriott's systems one bit.

My stay experiences so far this year have been abysmal as well, but that's another story.

It's a shame the customer service reps don't know this..

Just as a FYI, the benefit terms of this card can be found here.

Here is what it says about the 15 EQN's specifically:

15 Elite Night Credit

For Card Accounts opened before 12/31/2018

Each calendar year a maximum of 15 Elite Night credits will be credited to one of your Marriott Loyalty Program accounts operated by Marriott International, Inc. (i.e., Marriott Rewards®, Starwood Preferred Guest® or The Ritz-Carlton Rewards®) (the "Marriott Loyalty Program") on or before March 1 in accordance with the Marriott Loyalty Program terms and conditions.

To be eligible to receive the 15 Elite Night credits with this Card, you must be the Basic Card Member, your Card Account must be open and not in default at the time of the 15 Elite Night credit deposit, and you must have an active Marriott Loyalty Program account. To receive the 15 Elite Night credit deposit, your Card Account must be linked to a Marriott Loyalty Program account in your name. This benefit is not exclusive to credit cards offered by American Express. You will receive a maximum of 15 Elite Night credits per calendar year even if you have more than one Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, or The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Consumer or Small Business credit card account or have more than one Marriott Loyalty Program account.

For Card Accounts opened on or after 1/1/2019

Upon opening your Card Account, a maximum of 15 Elite Night credits will be credited to one of your Marriott Loyalty Program accounts operated by Marriott International, Inc. (i.e., Marriott Rewards®, Starwood Preferred Guest® or The Ritz-Carlton Rewards®) (the "Marriott Loyalty Program"), within 60 days. On or before March 1 of each subsequent calendar year, 15 Elite Night credits will be credited to your Marriott Loyalty Program account operated by Marriott International, Inc. (i.e., Marriott Rewards®, Starwood Preferred Guest® or The Ritz-Carlton Rewards®) (the "Marriott Loyalty Program"), in accordance with the Marriott Loyalty Program terms and conditions.

So, to me, it looks like the timing might depend upon when the card account was actually opened.

Seems to me that you would fall under this then:

It's one example, I really didn't want to go on a tirade.

I've had issues with nights and stays crediting, issues with seeing reservations, issues with status not showing on the hotel side. Non-tech issues, have to do with properties themselves, mostly to do with cleanliness. Residence Inn in Nashville, wet toilet paper stuck to the entry stoop, is a very nice "welcome", brown smears on the wall behind the toilet I really didn't want to think about. Sheraton Suites Orlando, used wet wash cloths still in the tub, bathrobe loose on hanger with no tie, clearly been worn before, coffee packet still in the coffee maker. In general things on the surface just seem to be in chaos.

But ya' did. There are about a gazillion whining threads in this forum about the merger. How is yours any different, such that you needed to start your very own to hash over items that have literally been beaten to death since last August?

Is there a reason you couldn't have just used one of the countless threads that already exist for bashing the merger?

Regards

Yes, I wanted specific information which I've received to half my inquiry, still nothing about how to chose annual choice with website doesn't work.

If you want to call that a tirade, fine, honestly it's less than 10% of the nonsense I've seen in the past year. I am very glad you've had no issues with the merger.

If there's countless other threads, that says something, doesn't it? Ardent defenders are always so funny on this forum.

My apologies for the omission, but there was an acknowledgement and apology for that posted here.

I actually get your complaint on the choice benefits (which by the way has a thread almost always on the first page these days) but once you get into the hotel cleanliness thing and blaming it on the merger, then I can’t help but

I'm neither an "ardent defender" (by any stretch) nor have I stated that I've had no problems. That is your fantasy extrapolation without knowing anything about me, but feeling the emotional need to rebut me.

What I did say is perhaps, in the future, consider adhering to the terms and conditions you accepted when you joined FT and don't start yet another thread when your query/tirade can be addressed in one of the already existing "I hate Marriott, the merger sucks" threads.

Furthermore, in this specific case it sounds like you could have answered your own question by actually reading the terms and conditions of the card you are paying $450 a year to carry and if you had actually searched/perused this forum, you likely would have found the other answer, which William has kindly provided to you.

In the future, perhaps measure twice, cut once before going on a "tirade."
