It’s changing from Ritz-Carlton Rewards to simply The Ritz-Carlton.

Coming in February: Marriott Bonvoy™ will be the new name for Marriott Rewards®, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® and SPG®.

Your Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card is also getting a new name. Introducing

Yeah that sucks, I hope they keep the heavy cards but it’s unlikely.

The heavy card has been gone for half a year.

I hate the heavy cards. Why carry the weight? Who does it impress that matters?

The cute girls at Starbucks were like, "OMG."

Nope, it’s mainly because the metal cards don’t wear out, they don’t need to be replaced at all.
But of course I use my card a lot more.

If we somehow get those horrible plastic replacements, can we just keep on using the old cards? Does the chip stop working at some point?

My old, weighty metal RC card is due to expire next month so my replacement came in the mail today.
- It's got a slightly different design on the front
- It does not feature contactless payment
- It still says The Ritz-Carlton Rewards
- It's got my old, pre-merger rewards number on the back
- All of the phone numbers on the back are the same + an additional number for "Concierge" (not to be confused with Elite Rewards Guest Services)
- Although it feels like plastic it has a notice "Contains Metal DO NOT SHRED"
I've been thinking about dumping this card for a while now. Maybe it's time.

This was the one of the biggest reasons I dumped the card. The card was no longer impressive. The women cashiers used to love my old, thick card.

I for one, love the weight, feel and look of the card. (I think its nicer than the AX plat but that's me..)
Mine doesn't expire for 4 years so I hope I can keep it 'till then.

There is no way to get the Ritz card if one doesn't have it already, correct? The club upgrade benefit seems so nice!

I do not mean to offend, but these seem like the most ridiculous reasons to get rid of a credit card.

Unfortunately no longer available for new applicants. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex card basically replaced the Ritz card, but no club upgrade certs.

The key part is "I've been thinking about dumping this card for a while now". The bullet items were the icing, not the cake. "Most ridiculous reasons" comes across as rather histrionic, IMHO.
