This is obviously an error as I just stayed here for $124/night...but it does make me wonder if anyone ever checks this stuff at Marriott.com or the properties themselves. It's too bad LNF/BRG doesn't give you some sort of difference between the original rate & lowest rate you've found.

Side note, I have noticed in recent months, even I had wanted to prepay, telling Marriott overlords to take my $$ immediately after booking, nothing until just a couple of days prior to check-in (despite rate details stating otherwise), or sometime not until until check-out.

I've noticed the website selling two room categories: club floor and lounge access, which seem to be the same as the property doesn't have a club floor as such but rather a lounge on a low floor. I hope lots of people contact the propety to bother them to explain the difference in the room categories. |
It appears that the property hasn't loaded rates for 2020. That astronomical rate is probably the default one in the system. The rate is the same for January 1 through January 18, 2020, which (I think) is the furthest out that can be booked right now.
As for who should catch this sort of thing, it theoretically should be the Reservations or Revenue Manager at the property. I'm sure their revenue management software creates some sort of exceptions report. That's what the several different software products I've used in the past did. Basically, it's a list of dates that may require human intervention. Someone at the property isn't doing their job. |

"Closing" sales of a hotel might have an effect to the hotels ranking on OTA's, so on (projected) high occupancy days rather than closing the hotel revenue managers simply put crazy rates that nobody books.

We only had to do that on dates when there were a lot of speculative reservations. For example, whenever the local NFL team got in the running for playoff games. Fans would book stays in anticipation of home games. If the team didn't make the playoffs, they would cancel the reservations. Anyway, when I saw this was right at New Year's, my first thought was that it was a similar concept. But, because the same astronomical rate is for all available days in January, I figured it was just lack of rates being loaded. |
I've seen arbitrarily-high rates used as placeholders before (I've done the same thing as well in other industries), but usually nothing that far from the norm, or not public-facing. I'm assuming that they're new to Marriott and MARSHA-cloud, so they're still learning the system. I hope corporate doesn't get nasty with them --- we had a great stay here! Everything was very recently remodeled and getting upgraded to a 1,500sqft 2-bed/2-bath villa certainly made for a great weekend. We'll definitely be back.
Also interesting is that everything on the entire property was still SPG no matter where you looked. Big SPG signs in the lobby, SPG branding on various brochures. Not one mention of Marriott/BonvOy/etc. They had two barker channels on the TV system, one was for SPG properties, the other was for SPG moments, circa-2016. We kind of enjoyed seeing the old SPG stuff to be honest. |
