Using points on specific room type not showing a point option?
 

Is there a way to book a room with points, when that room type is not showing a point redemption option online? For example I am looking at going to a hotel on a beach. They only are showing their “standard king” as an option for points redemption. I am interested in staying in a room facing the ocean. That room type is available when you click on “standard rate”. I am willing to use more points to get the better room. Is this even possible?


Side question: Do you earn points on reward stays? Specifically if you choose points over breakfast, or qualifying incidentals charged to your room?

SPG used to have an option for both upgraded rooms and suites, and various properties had their own specific options. I haven't seen anything from the new integrated progam - your best option is to call the property directly and ask.
