Ambassador confusion

I had well over 100 nights and over $20000 qualified spend in 2018. I have been lifetime pp for a long time. No one from Marriott Rewards has gotten back to me regarding this situation. I was told to sit tight. Has anyone else had this experience. In all honesty, over the 30 years I have been loyal to Marriott, this is the first time I feel disappointment.

try to reach out to one of the lurkers. IMO you're not missing out on very much.

how have you been a lifetime pp for a long time ;), this “status” has only been announced in 2018. (And not trying to make a snarky comment but the rest of the post doesn’t make sense as in what is the question?)

I emailed [email protected] because I needed some Your 24 support, and this was the reply I got, so I would recommend doing the same. The stand-in was very responsive and helped me immediately.

Dear xxxxxx xxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting ambassador service. My name is xxxxxx. It is my pleasure to help today on behalf of your ambassador xxxxxxxxx.

I understand you have not heard from your ambassador. As a member who stays over 100 nights per year, you are among a very elite group of members.

I have sent a request to have xxxxx reach out to you to ensure you receive accurate contact information. Please allow 3-5 business days. In the mean time I would be happy to help with the Your 24 requests you have. Please provide the confirmation #, check in date and desired time for check in and check out. Your 24 requests must be made through the ambassador team. If you need to contact us by phone please call (800) 456-0489 or email [email protected].

We look forward to helping with your travel needs. Have a good day.

Warm regards,

xxxxxxxx

Sorry, but I don't see the logic of how you've been LTPP for a long time or even how you're necessarily LTPP now, before the sweep.

I agree with the not missing out on very much. I recently earned Ambassador status, and while I haven't had much experience with it, my first two stays (both Ritz Carltons) were not any more impressive compared to when I was just PPE.

My 1st hotel stay as Ambassador tried playing the "sold out"suite game, even though there were plenty of upgraded rooms.I actually called them out on it and they finally offered a Jr Suite. Not the best way to start a trip since it creates a whole bunch of awkwardness.

The 2nd hotel did send a welcome amenity and did upgrade room, but even as a PPE, I would always receive the exact same benefits. My impression of being at the Ambassador level, was they had more pull to enhance a stay, and the ability to provide better upgrades, like upgrading an Ambassador guest before a PPE and Platinum, space available, of course. I really wish they'd implement an upgrade priority list like the airlines do and that the hotels would be required to adhere to.

The Marriott FAQ is explicit on the renaming of status levels: "only the name has changed." A previous year at 75 night status is still counted as a year at 75 night status. Only the name has changed.

With that in mind, I think what the OP meant is clear. OP believes he had enough prior years at more than 75 nights each.

Of course, this confusion was predictable and entirely avoidable if the brain trust at Starriott had not reused the name "platinum." It's nice to see that they finally listened and are going to rename the level "titanium" but it's too late to avoid the confusion.

okay.. I’ll give you that but the LTPP is just the dykwia on top of a non question thread. Is the OP complaining that s/he made ambassador and not reflected, shows ambassador but no ambassador contacted him/her, ambassador but what’s the point? What’s the confusion? I’m confused now.

My point is that currently the only LTPPs are the legacy MR LTPs and that qualification was based on lifetime POINTS and lifetime nights. Years of elite status was irrelevant, although earlier the program also requires twelve years of MR membership at any level. The evidence presented shows that the person has about 2,000 nights and more than ten years of Plat status, but we don't know whether these are combined numbers or not, although the elite status year counts make me suspect that accounts might have already been combined.

At this point,

750+ MR legacy ONLY nights? Maybe

2,000,000 lifetime MR points? Who knows?
