I agree that is not a good feature at all and while some may think why are people bothered I would suggest one simple reason.... Marriott's complete failure at trustworthy IT since the merger.

Why would anyone trust Marriott's tracker to be accurate and as such after 50 nights I will have to go over the spend Marriott says I have had to check they are correct.

At the end of the day it's not going to be an issue to me but some maybe close on the 20k spend as as such not knowing where you are until your halfway on stays is just unhelpful and I can see no reason for Marriott not giving this information. It is just another bad decision to be added to the list!

My thought on this whole fiasco... if they won't start tracking until 50 stays out, they should have a line item for posted stays. For example, they have line items for Base Points, Elite Bonus, and Extra Points, for each stay. Why can't they just add a line item for Ambassador Qualified Spend, or something to that effect? That way it can be tracked against each stay even if they don't show the cumulative until 50 nights.

Christina:

While I and others thank you for letting us know, this decision or IT limitation to wait until after 50 eligible nights to show any information regarding eligible spending is horribly wrong. It sets the wrong message that your best customers do not get any feedback regarding how they are doing relative to a fixed qualification and, as others have noted, assumes that the cumulative spending data prior to 50 nights is correct before presenting it to the customer.

Please convey to Marriott management and folks in IT that this is an extremely shortsighted approach.

Seems pretty obvious to me this is a business decision and not an IT limitation.

i agree....it seems stupid why they would not display that information from the start....

it wouldn't matter for some but it would matter for most....

My response was posted in the context of, irrespective of reason or decision or limitation. Not providing your best customers with feedback in the era of global real time networks and databases is not effective. If we are to measure our performance, provide the necessary tools and data in a reasonable and user-effective manner.

Agree. Can’t think of a single legitimate reason to not display this. Certainly there are no cost savings. So why?

I start the first of 10 Hyatt nights in the coming three weeks tonight. Many things took me to this place, but this is really the icing on the crap-filled cake served up by Marriott. I was seriously in disbelief when I saw SLIII's explanation (I know she is just the/a messenger of this dimwitted "leadership" team).

Adding in a second qualification (dollars) in addition to nights to qualify for the top tier is one thing, but it shows utter disdain for your best & loyal customers to not show actually show WHAT we are spending from Jan 1 onwards.

Arne - for shame

You make a good point. Then you'd have to pull an entire years' folios. They really should just include the spend from day 1.

Yup. Now I am tracking it myself as a result. Dollars aside, tying out points is impossible too.

I started this thread : https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marr...er-thread.html to help get a good tracker going until Marriott fixes theirs.

Off topic, but Christina, can you ask them if we can have hotel emails too? The fax jokes are getting old.

Where can I find confirmation that the $20k spend is only the base room rate? I would have thought that F&B counts and therefore looking at how many base points I earn divided by 10 is a decent proxy for spend.
