Exclamation Year-to-date spend tracker Discussion Thread

I completed my first stay 2019 last week, the nights tracker in the app updated properly (showing 3 nights) but the spend tracker still show 0,00 USD. Anyone else experience this problem?

Hi zemb,

Year-to-date spending will appear in the members online account after members complete 50 eligible nights.

This is truly pathetic wouldn't it be nice to see what our dollar spend vs. night pace is???

This company is a joke.

I agree. Especially since one has to spend $20,000 AND stay 100 nights to reach ambassador status.
Now we are told all spending before 50 nights will be a black box and to accept the dollar value Marriott IT tells us.

Even if you're not going for Ambassador, it's an interesting personal tracking feature and Marriott is obviously tracking the data so why not just show it? Not only that, just showing $0 is the absolute worst behavior you could choose. Either show the right number, or show nothing. Marriott's developers can't even hide a UILabel.

You can look at your credit card statement and get a general idea. If you are not going to stay at least 100 nights it makes no difference what-so-ever to the program. The things people get all worked up about.

Yeah, the nerve of me as a consumer to have a desire for a bit of transparency when I am engaging with a brand

I keep a spreadsheet with stays/points and the best way (and with > 99% accuracy) to track your spend is to take your cumulative base points for the year and divide that number by 10. That's how I am tracking against spend at least.

Some brands give points at only 50% of the normal rate, although spend at these brands seems to count 100%. Since I've never seen a definitive statement of what counts for the $20,000 spend, any calculations I do would just be a guess.

This , either hide it completely or update it.

And it makes no sense to only show it at 50 nights onwards. As others have mentioned, it's helpful to track "spend rate" across the year, particularly given Marriott's IT issues. And one shouldn't have to track credit card statements or keep detailed spreadsheets, that's absurd.

The CC statement only shows overall spend at the property. Marriott has so many exceptions on what it considers "spend."
For example, taxes and hotel service fees are not considered spend. Any restaurants that are 'contracted out'. etc. etc.
