Hi, stayed here as a Titanium.
The Pool at W is not made for lap swimming to be honest, it is only 1,3m deep maybe. So if you do easy breast swimming, fine but if you are looking at real lap swimming it is just to shallow to do anything. Said that we also arrived very early with Oman Air flight if I recall right, however we got our room directly at check-in but it was also not full and just a few day after soft opening.

The beach in front of the hotel is public and a lot of people have a stroll there, didnt see anybody spending time there. It is also not an very attractive beach. Some people went into the water, but lets say it is not your Dubai Beachclub Beach with white sand. It is nice for a walk. Food was pricy compared to outside of course and they take themselves a bit more serious than needed, but yeah it is a 5* Property, if you need the circus around your food you also pay for it. Though we only ate inside the hotel, it was always good (only stayed 2 nights).

What I really liked at the pool area was the service, very quick and smart. You also have a lot of shaded places, so we were there during August and it was never too hot because of the sun. Be prepared for madness on Friday, the pool is open to everyone against a charge and they have a party with DJ and a lot of locals/expats getting drunk. It was still a nice atmosphere (no Mallorca/Bahamas Cruise drunks), but if you enjoy pools without parties avoid Fridays.

Good to know, thanks. We will be there Thursday to Saturday, would that party crowd be akin to what you'd see at an upscale but lively all-inclusive? Have done those before and don't mind that.

Finally, if you want to be in the city, easy commute to the Souk etc, I would also have you check out the Sheraton Oman. Excellent food, spa, rooms, nightly events/specials at restaurant's etc. However, no view as its a business hotel.

We actually had a reservation at the Sheraton but switched for the W as it's the same price with certs. My main concern with the W is that it very much is the opposite of traditional Omani and it is our first time in the Middle East (well, my 2nd but the first time was a 20 hour layover in Doha). While the W feels more up our alley, it also feels a bit like we aren't getting anything close to a real Omani experience, whereas the Ritz (and potentially Sheraton) would feel more like that. OTOH, we'll have the next 5 days in Oman at more traditional places, so not too worried about that.

Sheraton Oman is a business hotel so you would not get a traditional Omani experience, though definitely a better Omani experience than W.

If you want a luxury, traditional Omani experience, then yes Ritz is the way to go.

Overall, all things considered, Sheraton Oman is my favorite, Ritz second, W third.

This is very interesting...My daughter (20) and I will be traveling to Oman for the first time (we were in Jordan in 2019). I have booked the W on points for two nights (64k) but have been worried that it is not really going to give us the feeling of being in Oman. The Sheraton is available for $90/nt but might be too basic. We really enjoyed our stay at the Amman Marriott, even though people said it was in need of refurbishment, etc. I am only gold, my husband is LTT. The Ritz seems lovely but seems a bit far from everything.

Had a great stay at the W Muscat. Was upgraded (Titanium Lifetime Platinum) to an Executive Suite, which was really nice. Definitely liked this W hotel (because it doesn't have the W vibe, or not so much W vibe).

Any one can help with contact to this hotel, for example to Guest Relation Manager.
I have same request and I wrote to GM's [[email protected]] email but there was no response to forward it to someone appropriate.

I enjoyed my time at the W Muscat - here are my impressions and photos:

Note on Transportation: The taxi company the front desk called wanted 5 OMR to take me from the W to the Grand Hyatt. Even the hotel staff said they expected 3 OMR. I opted to walk the few blocks outside of the hotel to the ROH parking lot for an Otaxi pickup to the Grand Hyatt for 1.1 OMR.

Note: I booked the W Muscat Anniversary Offer as it was 40 OMR cheaper than Member Flexible with “W MUSCAT : THE ANNIVERSARY EDITION, includes buffet breakfast daily at HARVEST, choice of massage, 6000 Bonus Points per night, late check-out 6 pm, see Rate details” - they also mentioned a free 6 pieces of sushi, which I did not partake in. The massage was a 16-minute soft tissue massage. As this was my 2nd massage ever, I’m unclear if my masseuse was just really strong or if they normally feel like that :-)

Pros:
  • Upgraded to a Marvelous Suite before arrival
  • Room design was funky and detailed
  • Great welcome gift with delicious desserts and a whole cake
  • Bed was comfortable - plush mattress, plush covers, plush pillows
  • Shower pressure was fine / decent from the rainfall head
  • Furniture (minus the leather desk chair) was generally comfortable
  • Breakfast had very good salmon Benedict - though, I thought the saj and hashbrowns could be more fresh - still a decent breakfast that I probably liked a bit more than Al Bustan Palace (Sheraton might still win out on breakfast)

Neutral:
  • Despite discussions of late checkout at check-in, they still called me at 2:30 PM to see if I “wanted to extend my stay”

Cons:
  • Not much

I would come back.

I'm surprised with all your travel (and jetlag) that was only your second massage. I try to get 2-3 a week. Best thing for jetlag For me. Nothing else works to get over it.

Of course, I only fly economy unless in forced to fly business

I only fly Economy, too, and rarely sleep on planes - but I try to stay in a certain time zone area for a while at a time to minimize jet lag. As for massages, they would cut into my pizza and hotel budget :-)

Had a great stay here. Couple of highlights:

1. After a redeye, I was able to check in early (~900 local). My room wasn’t ready but the hotel kindly offered me a Wonderful room with a great view
2. My suite night awards cleared about a week out
3. The pool and access to the beach are fantastic, although many did not seem to use the beach much
4. There’s a small shopping center about a 5 min walk away that has a couple of restaurants (Lebanese was great), but there’s no grocery or convenience store nearby. Talabat delivered to the hotel fine for a couple of incidentals
5. Otaxi can’t pick up at the hotel, but I had no issues walking across the street to grab a ride

This was one of the better W’s I’ve stayed at. Would highly recommend!
