Adding second name to reservation to Check-IN
Is it possible to add a secondary name to a reservation for Marriott.com for check in purposes? Booking a room for my spouse under my account, but I wont be there to check in.

I'd recommend calling the hotel. They can add it to the notes the FD sees. Technically reservations can do it, but it could get buried in the wants high floor, away from elevator, extra feather pillows notes. From what I've been told, there's a separate line that the FD sees first that they can create and/or add to - ie, spouse name, checking in first, has pet/knows fee, blah, blah, blah.
Of course if you're doing the booking it for spouse but you won't be there at all so the spouse gets your bennies, that may vary. The property, even if they accept the note, may or may not extend the bennies if you're not there. They're not required to do so. Cheers. |
I've done this once at a Westin and at a Residence Inn (I never spoke or stopped by the front desk). I did not have a problem with either.

Contact the property directly. Ask them to add your spouse's name to the ressie or in the notes. DO NOT say you won't be there. Ask them to note that she will be arriving before you/to use the CC on file for check-in purposes, as your flight will be later, etc. Technically certs aren't transferable, but if you do the above your spouse shouldn't have a problem. She might not anyway, but better safe than sorry/do all you can to make sure it goes smoothly. Also, remind your wife to say (if asked; not likely) oh he'll be coming in later, flights different, etc.
Cheers. |
