When I called, the CSO flatly say that those 2x stays/nights will not count anymore.
So those that get 25 stays pre 18/8 with the 2x stays/nights promo are good, those that not .... well SOL

Is there a way you can see number of SPG stays to determine if you’ve hit 25? Do the 4 from SPG cards still count?

The cso are so poorly trained post merger that I doubt they know what they are talking about actually. If double nights are counted, it doesn't make sense not to count double stay.
cmx likes this.

multiple CSO mentioned that both double night/stay promotion are no longer counted for this year qualification.
so unless you get it pre-merger, you will need to qualify the normal way

unless lurker want to confirm otherwise ?

Not that I have found. Now that the new program does not use stays, there was no need (in their minds) to track it. I'm sure the legacy earn process was another one of the after-the-fact addons once members screamed foul that SPG members being left behind.

If the double night/stay promo don't count, I won't be able to re-qualify Platinum for next year. Oh well, guess there's no need to re-qualify anymore hehe.

We looking into this, but I've seen several posters say that their YTD nights are correct and reflect the SPG Double Stay/Nights offer. If that is the case, then it seems plausible that the stays are going to count as well for legacy SPG qualification criteria.

It is manual. - Recommend that you create a spreadsheet.
  • Log into your account (select NO when prompted to "have Marriott.com use your location" )
  • Select the drop own arrow by your user ID click on "Activity"
  • Under "Latest Activity" on that page, there should be a link for View Previous Activity (prior to 8/18/2018)
  • Stop for a moment and savor the line item reporting detail of your account activity
  • Filter for All Qualifying and Year to Date This will display all SPG STAYS for 2018 - Jan 1 to 8/18/18
All Paid, Award and EQ (credit card) STAYS will be displayed
  • You can count these up, but it is recommended to copy this info into a spreadsheet.
  • Once the spreadsheet is created, add rows at the top. Manually insert any post 8/18/18 SPG Property STAYS that you have. I added a column for Quantity, and added a value of "1" for each row. Create a little =sum(..) formula to tally, and it will display your year to date SPG Stays, for status tracking
I found that the 2 EQ (Credit Card) stays posted to SPG, but are not displayed anywhere on the new account (since STAYS are no longer tracked. Only Nights) If you crossed a threshold (like 25 STAYS) post 8/18, you will need to submit a request for review. I am in that process now. Submitted the request yesterday. Awaiting a reply. I am hopeful that the status will be granted for the remainder of the year, as the threshold has been crossed, and not have to wait until January.
Incidentally, the 5 EQ Nights DID carry over when the new account number was issued.

Remember, these are legacy SPG properties only. Any legacy Marriott property stays will not count.
Good luck. Will post the results of my claim/request when received.

Thanks for the step by step, and I have 2 future stays and need another 2 more stays to reach 25 stays milestone to qualify Plat Elite.

My double nights counted when combining account.
It's just not logical if they gonna count the nights but disqualify the stays. The merger had been pretty messy, during this period CSO word just cannot be taken at face value.

I did this, and counted 19 stays / 21 night (without the double promo)
then I contacted the CSO and here is the reply:

Dear Mr. sandyph

Thank you for your reply.

We apologize but that part in the app is not updated yet. Its is still a known issue and we are currently working to fix it.
As of this moment, you have completed 16 nights.

So it seems the CSO can't even see valid nights let alone the number of stays.
Won't hold my breath about the double stays/nights promo

Hi Will,

Please keep us posted.
I have a few stays in the next 2 months that should put me at 23 stays without the double stays/nights promo.
So would be nice to get a confirmation whether I need that last 2 or not

I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion. The CC stays have always counted and should be expect to continue to count through this year. Remember they are still doing work on the system and continually updating the accounts. But because they will not be counting stays in the new program that the decision was made to not track stays on the website. I've always monitored my account and maintained a spreadsheet of activity to compare with the website. It's even more important to do this during transition periods when data can go away overnight and come back a few days later.

Now if they can only get the CSRs to have updated program status/rules so they don't feel compelled to make things up will greatly improve member comfort.
