Status Question when booking Marriott with Avios points
 

I'm tired of trying to find flights with my Avios points so I'm just going to spend it on hotels. I was wondering if I spend it on Marriott hotels, will my PP status be recognized and does it qualify for nights? Or does it have to be points booked through Marriott Rewards?

Avios bookings are exactly the same as an OTA booking. No points, status credit, etc.

Some hotels might provide some benefits on OTA bookings, but it's definitely not guaranteed.

If you attach third party booked stay back-to-back to a stay booked via Marriott, very likely status benefits will be honored (though if not, you can't press that). No stay credit or points, of course.
