How will my Eligible Status Years for 2022 be applied to my Account and when?

If you maintained the same Elite status in 2022 that you started with in 2022 , your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be applied to your Account in January 2023.

If you achieved a higher Elite status during 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for the new, higher tier was applied at the time of achievement.

If you did not meet the published criteria to renew your current status in 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be added in January 2023, and your Eligible Status Year for your new status will be added in March 2023 when your Elite status is updated.

===

When will my 2021 qualifying year of Elite status be applied to my Account so I can track my path to Lifetime Elite Status?

As part of our regular process, Members receive their qualifying year towards Lifetime Elite status in one of two ways:
  1. If you maintain the same Elite level that you started the year with, your Qualifying Year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January of the following year. Please Note: In November 2021, when we extended the Elite status that Members earned in 2019 or 2020, Members received their 2021 Qualifying Year of Elite status.
  2. If you achieve a higher Elite level during the year than the previous year, your Qualifying Year for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement. Please Note: If you achieved a higher Elite level during 2021, your 2021 qualifying year of Elite status, was applied at the time of achievement.

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Examples:
  • A Member achieved Gold Elite in 2019 and enjoyed the status in 2020. They received their 2020 year of Gold Elite status in July 2020 when we extended their status. Due to status extensions, the Member received their 2021 year of tenure in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Member achieved Platinum Elite in 2020 and enjoyed the status in 2021. They received their 2021 year of Platinum status in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Gold Elite Member achieved Platinum Elite in April 2021; the Platinum year of Elite status for 2021 was applied upon achievement (in April 2021).

Why was my husband made Lifetime Gold?

I know it's not an honor of any kind, we almost never stay at Marriotts (mostly Hiltons), but we're just wondering why him and not me?

We are both Gold right now, I make all the reservations through my account because my credit card (we each have a Chase Account) was upgraded to the one that gets 6x plus the 1-5 Cert. He was never offered the same upgrade, even after calling and asking.

The ONLY reservation we make through his account is his free 1-4 Cert every year.

So why did they make him Lifetime Gold? Do they think it will incent him to make more reservations? (it won't)...spend more on his lowly Marriott Chase credit card? (it won't).

99% chance it's because of a bug.

This should be initially auto-posted to all new Bonvoy threads.

How about that, it must be the Lifetime nights...he's got 358 and I've got 178 (forgot to look at how many years, but he is much longer than me). But we're virtually identical this year with not much - I'm 16 from the credit card and he's 15. Have no idea why we're both Gold right now. I guess if and when mine goes away I'll start making the reservations on his account.

How does one actually know that they've received LT status after rolling over the threshold?

(After all the well-deserved flames I'm about to received have died down, may I suggest that this thread receive a wiki?)

I know a lot of people probably can't understand why we got it (including us), since my husband does not have one single paid night this year so he rolled over nothing (and I sincerely doubt 300 lifetime nights scratches the surface), but don't shoot me we didn't ask for it...

Anyway, he got an e-mail saying "Congratulations! You're Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Gold Elite" and the body of the e-mail started "Lifetime Gold Elite - Now and Forever" and went on to describe the benefits, etc.

I'm sure it was some sort of glitch so if they claw it back I'll let everyone know.

Award nights count towards status.

He had one award night this year from his 1-4 Chase card. With just a modicum of spend so he's just at the given 15 nights from the card. Definitely a glitch.

You should get an email as others mentioned as well as seeing your new status in your account. From the app page showing your current year status, swipe left to see your LT status and progress.

For “new” Gold it’s only 400 nights and 7 years Gold status.

I'll take a stab at this. Maybe he qualified under legacy SPG Lifetime Gold requirements at the end of 2018, which were 5 years of elite membership earning + 250 elite qualifying nights?

But, if that is true, his status would have been upgraded in January of this year, so if this notification email was received recently, there was certainly a lengthy delay in it being sent.
