How will my Eligible Status Years for 2022 be applied to my Account and when?

If you maintained the same Elite status in 2022 that you started with in 2022 , your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be applied to your Account in January 2023.

If you achieved a higher Elite status during 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for the new, higher tier was applied at the time of achievement.

If you did not meet the published criteria to renew your current status in 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be added in January 2023, and your Eligible Status Year for your new status will be added in March 2023 when your Elite status is updated.

===

When will my 2021 qualifying year of Elite status be applied to my Account so I can track my path to Lifetime Elite Status?

As part of our regular process, Members receive their qualifying year towards Lifetime Elite status in one of two ways:
  1. If you maintain the same Elite level that you started the year with, your Qualifying Year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January of the following year. Please Note: In November 2021, when we extended the Elite status that Members earned in 2019 or 2020, Members received their 2021 Qualifying Year of Elite status.
  2. If you achieve a higher Elite level during the year than the previous year, your Qualifying Year for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement. Please Note: If you achieved a higher Elite level during 2021, your 2021 qualifying year of Elite status, was applied at the time of achievement.

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Examples:
  • A Member achieved Gold Elite in 2019 and enjoyed the status in 2020. They received their 2020 year of Gold Elite status in July 2020 when we extended their status. Due to status extensions, the Member received their 2021 year of tenure in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Member achieved Platinum Elite in 2020 and enjoyed the status in 2021. They received their 2021 year of Platinum status in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Gold Elite Member achieved Platinum Elite in April 2021; the Platinum year of Elite status for 2021 was applied upon achievement (in April 2021).

So...If my lifetime counter says 8 years Platinum, and I am Platinum now (March, 2018), at some point early next year it will roll over to 9 years? I'm working towards lifetime so these last two qualifying years are important to me. Thanks.

I wish I'd taken a screen shot of my account in December. Argh.

Managed to qualify for the 10th platinum by end of 2018. Now the nights and year of Platinum show correctly in the Marriott Bonvoy App but my lifetime status is LTP, not LTPP. Anyone in similar situations?

Nights: 987
Years of Platinum: 10

When we switched in Aug, I was at 9 years Plat and had already qualified for Plat in 2018. I should hit plat this year, but will be close.

You mean, March 2019?

I assume you mean your counter says 8 years lifetime Plat right now, currently, March 2019. And you are saying, you hit Plat this month as well, and it didn't move up to 9 years. Here's the answers:

No. If you are Plat/Titanium, your 'lifetime' counter (assuming you hit Plat/Titanium in March 2019) will not update until late 2019/early 2020. So screenshot! And wait.

However, if you hit Ambassador this year (2019), your lifetime counter will increment up when you hit Ambassador.

I’m in the same boat. The response was I earned my 9th year by Aug, 2018 and my 10th by Feb 2019 so I don’t qualify for LTPP. I don’t understand how I earned my 10th year between Jan 1, 2019 - Feb 28, 2019 as I didn’t have any stays.

So if that’s the case, that’s why Bonvoy is saying I earned my 10th year in 2019 on Feb 28, 2019 but really this was a counter update based on 2018 activity. So I should be LTPP/Titanium, not lifetime Platinum. Can you please fix my account?

Or is it possible that the 9 already included the status that you held in 2018, thus precluding you from earning another year in 2018?
So I didn’t look at the year counter but Bonvoy’s response is that I had a 9 in my year counter Aug 18, so I couldn’t earn my 10th by the end of 2018. They said I earned my 10th on Feb 8th, 2019. I believe that I already had my 9th year, from the year prior and that I earned my 10th on 12/31/18 from a 3 night stay with a check out on 01/01/19.

I suppose that could be interpreted in a couple of different ways, but it seems to me as though they are claiming that 2018 was counted already (as your 9th year) as of August because you already held Plat (even though you had not yet re-earned it for 2019 in 2018); therefore you could not earn an additional/second year in the same program during that single calendar year. This would be entirely consistent with my long-held conspiracy theory. And to further bolster the notion, I have to date not received any increment in my years counter since August, even though I definitely crossed a Plat threshold post-August.

In my case, I tracked and made sure that I had only 9 years of Platinum in 2018 before I start staying a lot of nights in the last 3 months of 2018 to finally qualified the 10th year. I even wrote a mail to my SPG Ambassador at that time asking why the Platinum counter did not count up from 9 to 10 at the end of year 2018. She congradulated me first qualifying another years of Platinum and also the following:

“Since 2018 is the transition year, members can Lifetime Elite Status under the legacy requirements through the end of 2018. The lifetime status is not calculated until the end of a given calendar year. It means that the lifetime year and nights may not appear until the start of 2019.”

I would not be so upset if had known that there was no way to make the final dash on Platinum years counts in 2018 because it would not show until Feb 2019 and missed the deadline of earning LTPP already. I literally changed many my lodging decisions from other chains to SPG/Marriott in 2018. I hope this is some kind of bug in Marriott system and can be fixed soon.

If you're lucky AND this Marriott mess ever settles out, you might try making a plea to the folks at BONVoY to see if they have any leeway given how things worked out. Right now I expect everyone to be taking cover because there are so many issues that they just can't seen to resolve. Maybe when their senior IT staff gets out for the summer they can get some things fixed.

I chose …. poorly. I was SPG LT Gold and only a couple years short of LT Plat when the merger was announced.

The only choices you have left for LT status are Hyatt and Hilton.
I am now spending most of my time/money at Hyatts although I doubt I will get LT status there.
Since you can get Hilton Gold by simply having the AmEx Ascend ($95/yr) or Hilton Diamond by having the AmEx Aspire ($450/yr) or charging $40K on the Ascend card, I ruled out going for Hilton LT status. And IMHO the sweet spot for Hilton is Gold.

I still stay at Marriott family properties (lifetime titanium) several times a year but I no longer look at them as my only choice. And frankly, it's huge to have options between multiple chains, as the best value (not best price; I value FS properties higher than limited service properties) in any location can vary between Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG If one is a 'slave' to only one brand, they will end up paying more and getting less value.
I'm currently based out of SFO and find myself staying at the SFO airport Hyatt Regency most of the time but I do shop between other brands and have stayed at other chains when the value has been better. I'm looking forward to getting based back in LAX and prefer the LAX airport Hyatt Regency but have stayed at most hotels near LAX depending on value.
This guy gets it! Thanks for the opinion

Yeah, duh, March 2019. This decade is confrusing me...

So I did a screenshot, but it was in January of this year (2019). Said:
Nights: 519
Years as Gold or Platinum: 9
Years as Platinum: 8

Nothing changed (well, nights have increased) in years since then. So you are saying around this time next year I go to 9 years Plat. And then in 2021 I should hit ten, which is perfect, because then I retire and stop spending 50 nights on the road.

Thanks.

Anyone think they'll ever open up Lifetime Titanium again for people to qualify into?
