How will my Eligible Status Years for 2022 be applied to my Account and when?

If you maintained the same Elite status in 2022 that you started with in 2022 , your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be applied to your Account in January 2023.

If you achieved a higher Elite status during 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for the new, higher tier was applied at the time of achievement.

If you did not meet the published criteria to renew your current status in 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be added in January 2023, and your Eligible Status Year for your new status will be added in March 2023 when your Elite status is updated.

===

When will my 2021 qualifying year of Elite status be applied to my Account so I can track my path to Lifetime Elite Status?

As part of our regular process, Members receive their qualifying year towards Lifetime Elite status in one of two ways:
  1. If you maintain the same Elite level that you started the year with, your Qualifying Year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January of the following year. Please Note: In November 2021, when we extended the Elite status that Members earned in 2019 or 2020, Members received their 2021 Qualifying Year of Elite status.
  2. If you achieve a higher Elite level during the year than the previous year, your Qualifying Year for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement. Please Note: If you achieved a higher Elite level during 2021, your 2021 qualifying year of Elite status, was applied at the time of achievement.

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Examples:
  • A Member achieved Gold Elite in 2019 and enjoyed the status in 2020. They received their 2020 year of Gold Elite status in July 2020 when we extended their status. Due to status extensions, the Member received their 2021 year of tenure in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Member achieved Platinum Elite in 2020 and enjoyed the status in 2021. They received their 2021 year of Platinum status in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Gold Elite Member achieved Platinum Elite in April 2021; the Platinum year of Elite status for 2021 was applied upon achievement (in April 2021).

Hahaha so wait they are claiming we got the year in Nov 2021? When they announced extensions?
https://help.marriott.com/s/article/Article-22145

edit: looking at my screenshot archives

Dec 31, 2019: 4/10
Jan 1, 2020: 5/10
Feb 25, 2020: 5/10
May 2, 2020: 6/10
Oct 2, 2021: 6/10
Nov 1, 2021: 6/10
Dec 31, 2021: 7/10
Jan 1, 2022: 7/10

So maybe mine is correct, and it did get credited when they “extended” everyone in Nov 2021
(EDIT 2, scrolling up I see lots of others did get it in November guess I was too busy to notice )
So just means now I got to rat race this for 2022, 2023, 2024?

Congratulations. Did you get the 2021 year added in November along with many of us or do you assume that this is that increment arriving a little late?

In other words, what was your count in the year up to October and what was your count in late December? Just out of interest for context. Thanks.

And here I am at the start of 2022 with zero nights and 9 Lifetime Platinum years on the count.

My worst case is that I will stay 50 nights this year and I've nailed it. As I'm going to spend three months in Thailand from February this is pretty much in the bag.

Of course, there's always the random possibility that I get the missing 2020 year added at some point so still some random excitement and anticipation to be had. Oh, the joy of Bonvoy membership.

Checked this morning and AMAZING my platinum years incremented from 13 to 14. Screen shot on 12/30 was 13. Today it is 14. Gold years went from 15 to 16. This must be a dream. Marriott IT never works.

I think Marriott owes me one year. I think I first qualified for Platinum in 2019. The app only shows three years of Platinum, which doesn't make any sense. This would be my 4th year.

I started 2022 with zero nights, but now I have 30 nights courtesy of my CCs.

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum. congrats to everyone getting their LT Plat status being recognised. Whilst I am still a long way off to reaching LTP, I do have some questions though. I have googled & googled but have yet to come up an answer. I'm hoping someone here who is a LTP can advise.
Here goes, assuming you achieve LTP member status in 2021 & it shows correctly in the Bonvoy app. In order to qualify for Titanium status in 2022, how many nights would you have to stay? Would it be 75 nights still or maybe 25 nights (assuming from Platinum to Titanium normally requires 25 nights ie from 50 nights to 75 nights). I hope someone can shed some light on this & apologies if it has been dealt with before, but I could not find it. Thank you & have a great 2022!!

regards,
Su

This isn't really the place, but you always have to do the full 75 nights to become a Titanium. No headstarts from any level of lifetime status.

.
The T&Cs certainly suggest that 2022 should already be counted as Platinum, with a specific example making this clear...

For example, if a Member meets the Gold Elite Minimum Requirement during the 2022 Eligible Status Year by earning twenty-five (25) Eligible Nights and becomes a Gold Elite Member for the remainder of 2022 and for all of 2023, 2022 and 2023 will each count as separate Eligible Status Years.
However, for a ridiculous number of FTers, that certainly isn't happening as it should. For example, 2022 should be my 10th year (no matter whether I meet the criteria since I am Platinum today), so either 2022 hasn't been counted correctly yet, or they've lost a year along the way...

So what should we do to get this situation rectified?

Learn to put up with it.

Marriott Bonv°y information technology (IT) is nothing if not arbitrary and capricious.

Indeed. I spent and stayed to earn Titanium in 2019, and Amb in 2020 and 2021. My account now says I am platinum with no lifetime status or years accrued, lol. Perhaps the abacus is still working on it

Hello lsquare, and craigthemif,

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Please feel free to PM us if we can be of any assistance.

This is not what Bonvoy's Terms & Conditions state with a very clear example, which is why I posted the link and the quote.

The mere fact that I am Platinum on January 4th, 2022 should mean that 2022 counts as a Platinum year, regardless of whether I maintain or achieve a higher Elite level during 2022.

I recognise that Marriott is probably ignoring or unaware of its own T&Cs, based on a large number of frustrated Flyertalkers and the explanation you provide.
