  • Stay at any of our participating hotels and resorts worldwide between September 26, 2018 and January 31, 2019.
  • Earn 2,000 bonus points on all stays* of two or more nights and 1,000 bonus points per brand, starting with your second brand.
  • Play our game 29 Ways to Stay from October 11 through November 8 to learn more about our 29 brands and for the chance to win prizes, including points and free nights.**
  • Register by January 7, 2019
Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points.

Finer print:
*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity.

Registration is required. Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards (“Loyalty Program”) members who register for this promotion by January 7, 2019 will earn 2,000 bonus points per stay on stays of 2 or more nights at participating brands. Plus, members can earn an additional 1,000 bonus points per brand starting with the second brand at which the member stays during the promotion earning period. The promotion earning period is for stays between September 26, 2018 and January 31, 2019, at participating Marriott Rewards, SPG and Ritz-Carlton properties. A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion. The member receiving this offer has been targeted and the offer is not transferable. Bonus points will be awarded to the member’s account up to six weeks after the promotion ends. Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for bonus points and nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points. Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay. Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion. For a list of current participating brands, visit https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/earn/hotels.mi. All Loyalty Program terms and conditions apply. See https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/terms/default.mi for more information. Visit www.Marriott.com/MorePlaces or call 888-MARRIOTT (888-627-7468) for complete details.

Clarification from Starwood Lurker in post 125:
  1. In regards to the part of the offer where you can earn 1,000 points for trying a new brand…There is no minimum length of stay, but you only earn it starting with the second brand. So if you only stay at one brand during the promo period, you will not earn this bonus. But if you stay at 2 or more brands, you will earn 1,000 points for each of those brands after the first one even if the stay is only one night.
  2. You earn on every stay of 2+ nights, so it isn’t about accumulating nights. If you have two stays of 1 night each, you will not earn a bonus. If you have two accounts, you may register for MegaBonus with either or both accounts. You will only be able to earn with one account at a time because you will earn the bonus points in whichever account the stay was booked with. Example: If you have two accounts that are not combined: If you register for MegaBonus with your SPG number and stay with your SPG number, you will earn the bonus points in your SPG account. If you register for MegaBonus with your SPG number but book your stay with your MR number, you will not earn bonus points.

Nope but will try calling. I guess just frustrated that the IT infrastructure post-merger remains BAD.

Not sure. It isn't there today but will give it some time.
I almost didn't bother with it. I do have a 4 night stay at a Marriott where a conference is being held so don't want to move that but everything else during this time period are Hilton property stays. I did add one cheap Springhill stay prior to my Marriott stay so I'll get the 3000 points but after that, I'll probably stay away until sometime next year.

  • Get the brand bonus on the second Marriott 2-night stay?
Or should I look for another brand (e.g. CY or RI) as my 1st night?

David
If they are both Marriott brand, you'll get 0 for your first stay (1 night) and 2000 for the second (2 night) stay
If you change them to different brands, you get 0 for your first stay (1 night) and 3000 for the next (2000 for a 2 night stay and 1000 for a new brand)

I don't think it matters what brand comes first but if you are going to try to max out the bonus with different brands, I'd probably pick a brand I wouldn't normally stay at. I tend to avoid RIs (and TP) when possible as they only give 5 points per $ spend.

How cheap is the hotel room to justify 1000 Marriott points??? Hope it's less than $12.50. (The other 2000 pts you will get regardless as it is effective on the first stay, as long as it's 2 nights.)

With MegaBonus® in More Places, earn on stays from September 26, 2018, through January 31, 2019. Explore all of our 29 brands, and book now to earn:
2,000 bonus points on all stays* of two or more nights.
1,000 bonus points per brand, starting with your second brand.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there are 29 brands, and if you max out on the brand promo, the most you can get is 28K points. So repeating your first brand twice isn't going to help. Maybe one of the Lurkers can confirm.

I wrote an email to Marriott Internet Support because I couldn't register for this promo. This was their response. FYI, my accounts have been merged.

The promotion you were trying to register is through SPG, I am sharing details with my colleagues who specialize in SPG.

They will correspond with you directly. While Marriott and Starwood are officially operating as one company, it will take time to integrate our operations.

In the meantime, please feel free to reply back if there is anything I can do to help.

I'm not sure if this will be handled the way they did the brand thing last time but back then, the bonus points for the stays credited with the stay but the bonus points for the different brands credited after the promotion ended. I thought they were missing and asked about it. They did credit later as they told me they would. Just mentioning it in case anyone is counting on them to put them over the 2M points by 12/31/2018

I also avoid RI and TP for the same reason whenever possible.

For what it's worth, this promotion is the first one in years that I've been able to register for myself. I can't remember the last time registering actually worked for me until now, but I have had no trouble registering via a phone call or email to MR. Email can take little longer but someone has eventually gotten back to me to let me know that I've been registered. This thread is the first time I've ever heard mention of a control group.

William: thank you so much for all of your help and insights. We'd be lost here without you!

Hi there,

Award Redemption stays will not count.

You may find below information in the terms and conditions of the Loyalty program:

An Award Redemption Stay at a Participating Property is considered a Qualifying Stay and as such the Member will receive Elite Night Credit toward earning Elite Membership Status or Lifetime Elite Membership Status; however, the Award Redemption Stay will not count toward achieving any milestones required to obtain a promotional Award.

Does anyone else find it ominous that William was apparently replaced by someone who is saying the opposite of what he was saying?
