I hate frivolous lawsuits as much as anyone else. It’s not my first resort, it’s my last resort. I’ll give it a few more days but at this point I see very little hope of this resolving itself, though I hope I’m wrong.

they are still sorting out a number of known issues so giving it a little bit more time can't hurt....

Out of curiosity, what is SPG/Marriott saying? Do they acknowledge that you had points and they’ve disappeared?

When I called SPG plat line earlier this week to investigate my still missing 330k SPG points, I was told that there were accounts that needed manually correcting. I assume OP falls into this group where any existing SPG points were zeroed out after the conversion process.

I was also told not to merge my accounts and wait... No ETA was given

Should you like, I can send your email to our Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) for further handling. For OCA to contact you, please provide your email address and/or telephone number. I will then provide your contact information, along with the comments above, to OCA and a representative will contact you as soon as they are able.

However, should you require immediate assistance or would prefer to contact OCA directly, you may call them at (800) 621-0999 or email them at [email protected].

bruinfever,
Reading back through this, it appears that you have only been calling the standard Cust Service line, and speaking with Customer Service Reps.
The majority of references in this forum indicate that the regular Customer Service Reps are not not empowered/have the tools available to rectify this for you.
You might want to document your claim with any backup information to [email protected] providing your old SPG number, New SPG number and any back up documentation/screenshots that you have. You might also copy the lurkers at [email protected]
The Consumer Affairs office information is also above, but I would start with the research email. They would seem to be the most appropriate first level of engagement for this. I keep coming back to this thread hoping you have gotten resolution. Good Luck!

Same thing happened to me but I only had 200k points. I merged my account and they showed up after a few days. I would merge.

Did you take take a screenshot of your account prior to 8/18? For backup purposes.

Did you keep your existing Marriott number or the newly assigned Marriott number (i.e. the SPG account)?

This saga scares the hell out of me as I have over 700K pts in my legacy SPG account and are very hesitant to merge them because I do need them for some Oct/Nov stays.

I merged accounts and a new Marriott Number was created. It took a few days but the points eventually came over correctly. Once I merged, I began using the Marriott site and app exclusively. This was based on the recommendation of technical support.

So maybe the "Merge Failed" message wasn't related to your accounts but was simply a general status update on the overall program integration.

Yes, I was finally able to get the vast majority of my points back. I say "vast" because there was an interim period of time before they reinstated my points where I had a bunch of Amex SPG spend that didnt get credited and then I had to lobby for those points and I think I got most of those points. They said that I would have to prove to them where I wasnt credited and I simply dont have the time or energy to deal with this anymore. Regardless between this whole fiasco and the devaluation of the SPG Amex I have completely discontinued accruing SPG points (use to charge about 100K a month on my SPG Amex.) I'll just continue using up my points for stays and miles transfers until they are at 0.

I'm curious how someone would start a thread like this, lead us along in the quest for so many points to be returned, and then have to be asked to come back and tell us what happened.
