Does the 90-days period actually mean 90 days or 3 months? If I remember correctly from my previous Starwood Challenge, I could choose freely which month I would like to start, but the starting date was always the 1st of the month.

I don't think that's the case. From various forums, CSRs have been either saying 90 days or until 12/31 (at least for people who signed up in Sep) and I'd rather play it safe and follow the 90-day limit. Haven't heard anyone mentioning the 1st of the month. I'm guessing Marriott isn't following SPG traditions?

I plan to follow strictly 90 days however i've had 3 different CSR's explain it as: you get the rest of the current month (the month you sign up regardless of if it's the 2nd or the 27th) plus the next 3 calendar months. I signed up a few days into September so the rep said I'd get the remainder of September plus Oct/Nov/Dec so for me it ran to 12/31. I have no idea if you wait till October to signup if running into 2019 affects anything or not.

So I just had a recent 3 night stay where i paid points for 2 nights and cash for the 3rd. If I call in they should be able to tell me my progress on this challenge... right? Want to make triple sure they are counting the awards nights before i go and start mattress running.

I just signed up myself. Started today, I have until 12/31/18 to complete.

Took 20 minutes. The rep was very knowledgeable about it. I used the iPhone texting service. (Awesome service if you’ve never used it before). It is a great way to get things accomplished if you don’t want to sit on hold, or can’t talk because of where you are.

Quick (perhaps silly) clarification on the platinum challenge: Do all 16 nights have to occur during the 3 months challenge period or do you just have to accumulate 16+ nights total (including what you already have for the year prior to the 3-month challenge period) by the end of the three months?

It should be 16 nights during the challenge period, but of course I haven't seen the T&Cs for your challenge.

MSPeconomist is correct that the members who participate in the Platinum challenge need to complete the 16 eligible nights during the 3 months challenge period.

Members who are interested in the elite challenge promotion will need to call customer service for more information.

So has anyone received confirmation by email or on their profile that they are enrolled in this challenge? I called and enrolled in it on 9/14 and never received a confirmation. Called on 9/20 and the rep confirmed I was enrolled, but didn't know why I hadn't received anything from Marriott.

Yeah I have no idea why this isn't more transparent. I would greatly appreciate a counter or progress bar or something on the website showing me that stays are being counted as I expect them too.

Sadly there doesn't seem to be anything.

This is correct.

The full T&C are also posted higher up in this thread (I posted them).

However, it's possible that the T&Cs for one person's status challenge are not exactly the same as those applying to someone else. This is likely to occur, for example, if one person is getting the challenge through a corporate travel contract, and possibly if different countries of residence or credit cards are a factor, etc.

IMO it's irresponsible to assume and moreover people should be encouraged to read the T&Cs that apply to them.
