Thank you for that tip! My birthday was back in Oct. I received nothing so contacted Marriott on Oct 31. I got an email back:
Yeah, sure. Never posted. Anyhow, worked out well since I haven't combined my accounts yet and I decided I'd rather have the credit in my SPG account rather than my Marriott account. Credit already posted!

I found e-mailing them a complete and utter waste of time. The UK number not only sorted out my missing birthday night, but they also sorted my missing 10 nights from my UK credit card. Both times, the UK folks (I think they are based in Ireland) admitted that due to on-going IT issues, both had to be done manually.

Despite the Plat line promising that it would post within a week, my birthday elite night still hasn't posted. So another wasted 40 min on the phone. Fortunately I did a $100 stay at a convenient FI to secure PP.

DP - posted fine for me in Dec, did not need to do any sort of follow-up, just got the email and when I checked back a week later I had the credit. Did not matter to me this year so was not bothered about it.

8 years in RC Rewards and 6 years in SPG... Never got such "gift" from Rewards pre-merger... (SPG didn't have such thing I think...) Nor post merger in last November with my Rewards account as the surviving account....

Received an email today informing me that I can celebrate my birthday with an elite night credit. My birthday is tomorrow. A very unexpected and very nice gesture.

That data point may well lend credence to the notion that its targeted (which obviously they can extended and withdrawal at will). Never in life did I ever receive such an offer, although I am opted in for communication from Marriott (some have suggested this makes the difference between those who receive it and those who don't). It's never made any difference one way or the other for me, personally, so I've never given it too much thought.

Thanks. I called again and they told me to wait 48 hours, but seemed to just be punting the answer. Never get a consistent answer from the reps.
@Starwood Lurker - any ideas?

The Elite Birthday Gift Promotion is a targeted promotion and only those who receive emails are eligible.
