Is anyone else still showing two different statuses on SPG vs. Marriott?

I'm afraid to combine until this is resolved - one shows Plat Elite and the other Plat Premiere Elite.

Thanks.

Yes. SPG is correct (PPE). MR is wrong (PE).

If you still have a Rewards account and an SPG account, they could could each have a different elite status, even if that had been inked. That's fine; It's not a mistake.

I stayed more than 75 nights in 2017 with my Marriott Rewards account. That' earned the old Platinum Elite and the new Platinum Premier Elite. After August 18, my Rewards status showed as Platinum Premier Elite (except on the landing page after signing in, where it was, and still is, incorrect). I'm also LTPP.

I had very few stays in 2017 with my SPG account, but I used my SPG Amex enough to earn Gold. After August 18, my SPG account showed Platinum, not Gold, which was either generous or a mistake.

After you combine your accounts, you'll only have one account with one status.

If you had linked your accounts before August 18, then why would you not have been SPG Plat rather than Gold by virtue of being Marriott PE? Then post August 18th (before merging), your SPG status remains Plat. If you merge, then it's PPE everywhere.

No, I don't have that problem. My problem is they're both wrong, calling me Lifetime Platinum when they should be calling me Lifetime Platinum Premier.

My point was that having different status in the two programs after August 18 is not a mistake or problem. It's not something that needs to be "resolved." Because it's not a problem, it's not going to be "resolved." There's nothing to wait for.

Back in April of this year, Marriott published charts showing how old status would correspond to new status. There was a lot of discussion about these charts because they didn't mention matched status from linked accounts, one way or the other. Even Marriott executives gave conflicting answers about whether new status would be based on earned status or on matched status. The final word was that it would be based on earned status.

I linked my accounts in 2016, so I was Platinum in both programs before August 18. However, my earned status in Rewards before August 18 was Platinum Elite, while my earned status in SPG before August 18 was only Gold Preferred. So I expected my new status to be Platinum Premier Elite in Rewards but only Gold Elite in SPG, based on the charts. However, it appears that Marriott gave me a "soft landing" to Platinum Elite in SPG because of what my status was through linking.

I've now combined my accounts, which added my SPG nights and points into my Rewards account. I now just have one account. I kept my old Rewards account number. Everything, including my status, is correct — except I'm still missing the birthday Elite night that I accepted in July but never received.

In some cases, it is absolutely an error and a problem. For example, given my 77 nights in 2017, my MR app should say PPE, not PE. But so far it’s only been a minor inconvenience for me and I’m sure it will get fixed before it becomes anything more than that.

I linked my accounts last year. I have 90 Marriott nights this year, and 7 SPG. My Marriott status is Platinum Premier Elite and SPG is just Platinum. Will combine later in the year but in the meantime, I don't expect SPG to change to Platinum Premier and am not overly worried about it.

Mine as well. MR says Plat Premier but SPG says Plat (based on linking my accounts last year). However, since August 18th my MR upgraded to Plat Premier but that status never linked back to SPG. And I had three stays booked with my SPG number so when I checked into each of them they only saw me as Plat.

The first two kept the SPG # in the reservation and no surprise but those posts have not posted to any account. The third one changed the number upon check-in to my MR # and they could see my X4 (Plat Premier) status. I expect that stay will post quickly.

Unsure if this is the most suitable thread -- I couldn't find any more recent one, though.

I never combined my accounts, but I did link them soon after that became an option. For the past several years they have both reflected the same status. Now one has a lower status than the other. Has the status pairing been ended?

Hi fumje,

Linked accounts are separate accounts within the program. You may combine your accounts by filling out the form at https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/merge-my-accounts.mi
