Marriotts poor treatment of its members with a total lack of communication and acknowledge of the problems and complete radio silence on the issues has really soured me.
They also basically tied the hands of the SPG Lurkers since Aug 18th, who we have come to love with their proactive assistance and courtesy for so many years.
After some pre planned SPG property stays next month (that I don’t want to cancel and fight the points return problem) that’s it for the year.
Hyatt and IHG for me.

There is already quite a long thread on this theme here - https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marr...-marriott.html
Do we need another?

No, I'm not going to stay at a property that I had determined was worse than the Marriott/SPG property I had chosen because data on a website is wrong.

No plans to change my habits in the near term. If things get worse and impact me negatively then I would re-evaluate but that holds true for everything I buy and spend my money on.
Keep me happy at a good value and my business is yours.

William was on vacation for several weeks after Aug.18th. Since he returned I've exchanged 5 PMs with him and he's replied/addressed every issue within 24 hours.

If you consider the lack of a fall mega bonus to be an integration issue, then yes. Presumably they aren’t doing a bonus because of the IT mess. IHG is running double points this fall and I have shifted a number of bookings there. I will continue to use Marriott is locations where there’s a property that I really like and/or that better suits my needs, but that’s it. LTPP and I don’t put a lot of value on getting SNAs.

Precisely this. The integration issues are annoying, but they don't make any non-Marriott hotels better. The merger issues didn't move the location of a Hilton or whatever to the location I want. Or add Westin mattresses, St. Regis Butler service, or other amenities to non-SPG/Marriott hotels.

William has also posted since his return things like this below, and he just posted today under “all together now” thread that he and the other Lurkers can’t help by participating in the Marriott threads here on flyer talk. That’s called having your hands tied.
Marriott doesn’t want to provide a list and let the Lurkers and us help?
Show them ( Marriott) the list we had pre merger and how great that helped us all.
I’m not blaming the Lurkers in any way, I’m blaming Marriott for silencing them and refusing to communicate with us, It’s members on anything more than the completely stupid status.marriott.com web page.

Members have told us here and in the Marriott forum what they are seeing that they think is wrong. We've also been getting emails and posts on Twitter and Facebook. We are passing these along to the IT team daily. They are creating tickets to address the various issues that are still open.
I completely understand everyone's frustration with this situation, but all that is needed now is some additional patience and some time for the processes to be developed and implemented.

I will book Marriott/SPG hotels online if they meet my needs. I will be LTPPE ny 2019 when they update, so I don’t have to worry about chasing status.
I book Hyatts where ever possible for the Hyatt promotion. But I am also free to try new hotels such as Jumeira Himalayas and Mandarin Oriental in Shanghai Pudong net week.
It’s nice to have options beyond Marriott/SPG.
I called SPG Platinum Concierge line 3 days ago and was on hold for 40 minutes before I hung up. Customer service?

Based on, really? There are 4 Lurkers, the other 3 were completely silent since Aug 18th and it wasn’t by choice. There was no help from anyone now working for the new Marriott on questions other than 2 or 3 posts in 10 days saying to contact Marriott Support or we can’t tell you anything but IT is working on stuff.

Addressing only the comments about the Social Media team, you should know that no one is silencing us, but we can't go off half-cocked about things we know nothing about and add chaos to an already sensitive situation. If there was a lack of communication from my colleagues while I was on vacation, then they were busy gathering data and floating it up to the appropriate teams for answers. It was about five days before the team was given an update and those posts did not exactly calm the waters. I was back four days after that, but having gone over it all since, I'm not sure it would have unfolded any better if I had been here. As far as I can tell, no one was in the mood to hear the messages that were being delivered at the time.
As for not posting in this and the other two legacy forums until now, it is all a bit too much since everything being said is a repeat over all channels. We would be repeating posts here and the SPG forum over and over, which does not add any efficiency to our reporting. We have been posting to the SPG forum for 20 years now. That is where most people know to find us if they need us. Also, there are simply some legacy Marriott and Ritz issues that we cannot provide support for other than to ask you to contact one of our colleagues using the support mechanisms they have in place.

I’m always happy to read and correspond with the Lurker team. Not your fault at all as I stated earlier.
Marriott is not Starwood and we [Legacy SPG Members) are all clearly seeing that now.

I would love to check out Hyatt too (primarily to be able to sample PHs on vacation, and also as I have boatloads of URs I can transfer to them)...but I'd also like to have status without actually doing a challenge or otherwise paying for it Have liked trying out non-big chain hotels too on past vacations and that could also be a good option going forward.
