That change happened with the merger. Platinum used to be able to transfer with no minimum. Not anymore

Tranfer Marriott points for flight from Malta to Brazil?

Hello, I've ammassed a considerable amount of points (280,000) and am pulling my hair out trying to figure out the best way to redeem these damn things. Any reccomendations as to what transfer process I should go through in order to get good value on a one way flight from Malta (or Istanbul) to Brazil, and then later from Brazil to Atlanta Georgia?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Welcome to FT

The “Best” is the one with availability.

When are you intending on traveling?
Economy or a premium cabin?
What searches have you done?
Booking two 1-way award tickets will probably be easier in this instance. Not all, but most, programs allow for 1-way awards. Work from your destination backwards to hubs or focus cities and then build you route.

Marriott PoofVoy- A transfer gone missing

I transferred 60k Bonvoy points to AF/Flying Blue 3 weeks ago.

On my Marriott account I see 2 transfers of -60000 points and -15000 points, which *should* correspond to +20000 and +5000 miles with Air France.

The 5000 miles posted to AF within 24 hours but the 20k miles are effectively in some nomansland somewhere between SLC and Mars...

I called Marriott and they told me the system was "confused" by two simultaneous transfers (huh? it's one with a bonus you offer guys!) and that "the normal transfer time was 6 weeks for all airlines" LOL LOL LOL and that I should call them back within 10 business days.

Seriously?

Anyone else have any similar experiences and/or insight as to how to deal with Marriott?

Thanks

You have been "Bonvoyed."

I wouldn't call, I'd write in. Contrary to reports of outrageously long waits for a response, I received a reply and proper resolution within the quoted time.

I did. Then I called.
Then I told me I had to wait 10 business days for a response.
After their 15 business days lost.

I posted a similar one in the wiki, but itís opposite to yours. Transfer to SQ. The 5000 bonus miles posted 9 days after the 20K miles.

It's less of a "Marriott" question than a "how can I best get from Point A to Point B using miles". But whatever...

Did you very recently create the Flying Blue account? I remember seeing a thread in the AmEx CC forum where someone who tried to xfer AmEx MR into a new FB account had them "quarantined" by FB because the account was too new (it's a huge debacle and I don't know what ended up happening). Is there any chance this is what happened to you?

Now I'm almost at the 3 week mark and nobody knows where the miles are.

Bonvoy customer service says that it takes 6 weeks for airline transfers (yeah right) and 10 business days to respond to emails. What a joke.

I've stopped using my Marriott credit card and have stopped staying at Marriott properties until they can get their customer service act together. Heads need to roll over this starting at the top, but I'm sure that they will all get big bonuses for the "successful" merger of the SPG and MR programs.

Transfer to EK took about 36 hours. Very happy as J to F upgrade space was still available. For all the merger issues Marriott has bungled, I will give them credit for keeping this one. It is a huge benefit being able to transfer to such a wide range of carriers with a 25% bonus, particularly with the ongoing devaulation of my primary FFP, UA Mileage Plus.
