spg points transfer to alaska need 6 weeks?
 
I did my last SPG points to airline miles (alaska airline) redemption right before the merge (on 8/17 which is one day before the messy merge) but got stuck there without getting the points in Alaska miles for more than 2 weeks, I called the spg customer service twice (each holding 1+ hours and they talking back and forth to a supervisor) only to be informed that it could take 6 weeks for the transfer and I need to wait that long before starting any investigation .. I was under an impression that these day no transfer is taking more than one or two week and a lot travel sites even quoted the maximum transfer to Alaska from real user experience is only under a week, however I can't find a concrete timeline on the spg website.. I am kind of worried that the merge caused some issue with the redemption, is there anything I should do now other than waiting (am I given the right expectation for 6 weeks's transfer)?

We used to be able to change 20000 SPG points to get the 5000 mile bonus. Is the minimum to transfer and get the bonus now 60000 points?

Other than Lufthansa and Southwest, has anyone else received the miles in their airline account from a transfer made last Friday (when it apparently started working again)?

I am waiting for miles in my Alaska account.

Hi susieling,

According to the terms and conditions of the new program, 3.11.c. Once Points have been redeemed for Miles with a participating airline frequent flyer program or other airline-affiliated loyalty program, Miles will automatically be transferred to the Member’s frequent flyer or airline-affiliated loyalty program account. Please allow approximately six (6) weeks for Miles to be posted to your account or contact your local Member Support to inquire about express service (may be subject to a fee).

In regard to your transfer before the merger, if you could provide the transfer details to us via private mail here or by email below, we are happy to look into this with the appropriate team.

Yes - Marriott did good by not devaluing this. 60k MR points (or 20k spg points) will get you 25k miles on the airline of your choice.

I transferred to American. The points were taken. The miles do not show in my account. Nor do the bonus points.

I have 2 transfers to American, one started prior to the merger on 8-17 and one started 5 days ago. No points yet 😢. It really going to piss me off if I miss a great business class ticket for my trip in Feb that is still available!

Hi Christina...glad you guys are still around! It seems many people's last minute pre-8/18 SPG -> Miles transfer did not show up on the other end. Do you want us to contact you individually and you fix the issues one-by-one? Or, you want to find out what is going on and with a projected date? That way, those of us who are not in a hurry can wait.

We have received reports from some members both here and via other channels that their transfers before the merger were not posted. Program Service team is aware and looking into this issue.
We are glad to help forward the transfer details to Program Service team to have a look at if members are in need to use miles.

I also transferred points to AA, the points were subtracted from my MR account, but the transaction doesn't appear in my MR activity, and they haven't appeared in my AA account yet. I'm hopeful they'll appear in the next day or two.

After submitting the transfer request for 180k points I got the same pop up screen saying success but the "points balance" it listed was still the same. Upon clicking close of that my account then reflected the reduced amount as if it had been transferred. Fingers crossed.

I made 2 transactions on the same day, 27 Aug, to Aegean from SPG/Marriott.
Received both on 03 Sep.
However, short some miles due to their rounding and some discrepancies on their website.

Beware, the transactions rates are not 3:1 as they state, its actually 1:0.3333!
If you're trying to transfer an exact amount you may be surprised when you are short 1 or 2 miles...
Has anyone had this happen or is this just a newbie mistake?

Just submitted a transfer request for 60k points to Alaska as well. The points got deducted after the transfer. Hoping this works finally

Did a test transfer of 3,000 points to KrisFlyer in anticipation of a bigger transfer I will need later in the year. The points were deducted from my total but if I go to "My activity" there is no line item to show the transfer. There was also no email confirmation to let me know I had requested the points be transferred, as with the old SPG program. So I am not hopeful...
