W Brisbane, Australia [Master Thread]

Just home from our stay.It is a typical W aimed at a much younger customer than I but enjoyed it.Great views of the Brisbane River And Southbank.upgraded to a larger corner room.We were on highest floor currently open-20.elevators go to 33.
I think the thing that will put it over the other hotels is the Plat breakfast.Full breakfast in the restaurant which was amazing.Probably the best brekkie I have had in Australia and near the best elsewhere. We also had dinner in the restaurant-Three Blue Ducks-a Byron bay favourite. It was excellent as well.
Construction obviously still going on.no problem on Sunday but noisy monday morning. They are hoping it will be finished by June 30.
Will try and post pictures here but FT always a little hard on me.If I cant will link to those on AFF.

The wardroom is a little strange.also the railing is a little high.short people would have difficulty hanging clothes.

The bath is quite high.We only just managed getting in and out.i am in my 70s with mobility problems.

Many thanks for the detailed report! Definitely an upgrade over the only other SPG property - Four Points - where I stayed before.

No didn't venture out there.Although a lovely sunny day at 24C(76F) it is still winter to us Queenslanders

Looks fantastic. Is Blue Ducks part of SPG Cravings?

Just finishing up a very good 5-day points stay here. I mainly booked the W over the other cheaper hotels in the city because of the pool, but I under-estimated quite how wintery winter gets here (we had snow instead of pool-side drinks).

I got an email from the hotel a few days beforehand with notice of an upgrade from a Wonderful Room to a high floor Fantastic Suite. The suite is large and well designed, with none of the usual W flaws. It's modern, in great condition after a year and service overall has been perfect. As an Ambassador guest in addition to the upgrade I got a voucher for a "happy hour" of complementary drinks and nibbles for 2 hours for myself and one other in compensation for there not being a lounge. I thought that was very generous and not something I'd seen out of Asia before. I also got a call from the GM personally as well as a card with some flowers and gold-covered chocolates.

This is probably the best city W that I've stayed at. Would absolutely come back and given the lackluster reviews of the Westin and Four Points, I'd guess the extra expense is worth it.

Any recent stay reports here?

Thanks in advance.

I stayed 3 nights in October and really liked it. As platinum was uprgraded to a cool corner room with a great view. Didnt ask about a suite as I am quite happy in a large regular room when travelling alone. They were able to check me in very early which was nice. As reported breakfast is great, one of the best buffets I have had. I also recall various free drinks (some of whcih had coupons). I think there was some kind of happy hour for plats with a snack and wine in the evening in the bar and I know I got a couple of free beers in the pool bar. Location worked well for me, near to museums, shopping, some good restaurants etc. As I get older I am less sure about W but this was just a nice hotel without a particular scene etc. I would happily repeat.

As a titanium, we got free drink coupons (4 for 2 night stay) and 20% off the F&B bill.
