Is this wrong?
The T&Cs clearly state that only one claim may be submitted per reservation. However one may feel regarding the usefulness of this clause, this is part of the rules one explicitly accepts to abide by when submitting a BRG claim.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke to the agent and realised I was misinterpreting that clause. I thought it meant 'no multiple "live" claims in a queue for the same reservation'. The reason that I didn't make a new reservation and a new claim is I thought it was unnecessary and perhaps could give some extra burden/confusion to Marriott website and the corresponding hotel.

Anyway the agent advised me to just hit a reply- even I am allowed to suggest a different competing site in the reply- I was not aware of this.

Sorry for the multiple questions but here is one for taxes...

In case of US-based properties, Marriott website adds 'government taxes and fees' to cash rate.

... and here are T&Cs of one OTA:

* Keep in mind that our rates do not include some expenses or fees that must be resolved by the hotel guest, such as resort fees, municipal taxes, parking, tips, etc. (TRANSLATED)
* The prices indicated next to the reservation correspond to the total price of the goods and services selected by the User, are expressed in euros, and include the corresponding taxes. (TRANSLATED)

I think this OTA rate in euro is all tax and fee inclusive (government tax = federal tax but not municpal tax?) but would like to get good opinions.

Thanks

yes, always the case in Europe.
Point that out in your claim and calculate the comparable pretax price for them. Every once in a while you get a bad agent who does not get the tax thing ... cancel, rebook and refile in that case.

I appreciate your clarification. Painful to see multiple denials with arguing "the OTA requires immediate payment", "superior doesn't match with deluxe" etc etc. The tax issue which we discussed brought another denial this morning!

Best Rate Guarantee claim: does this work ?

Hi all,

I'm new to Marriott Bonvoy, so thank you in advance for what might be a noobie question

I'm looking to book 1st - 5th September at AC Hotel by Marriott Ambassadeur Antibes - Juan Les Pins, 2 adults, 1 infant (1 year old), Family Suite, 1 Queen Bed with Sofa bed, Balcony

Via marriott.co.uk: 1631 EUR (1466 GBP) attached (below)
Via hotels.com: 1258 GBP + 27 EUR link

Can I safely book via marriott.co.uk and make a BRG claim for 25% off the hotels.com price ? Or am I missing something ?

Many thanks in advance.

Looks ok to me. Says clearly that child is included and theres no additional fee on hotels.com so it beats Marriott. Both non refundable. You can cancel Marriott up to 24 hours after booking so its worth a try as long as you submit the claim immediately after booking and watch the clock.

The Marriott rate should also include the extra person fee in your nightly NET rate.

Keep a keen eye on the cancellation deadline.

This isn't likely to be approved because the only difference between hotels.com and Marriott is the extra person charge.

I'm confused. Why is Marriott charging an extra person charge directly? But not when booked via an OTA ?

You will pay at the hotel in both cases.

What happens when the price on Marriotts side goes down compared to when you booked making the new price listed on Marriotts site lower then the comparable website.
But you booked at the higher rate.
This all happens within the 24 hour period.

Is BRG not applicable then?

Come on! You have to be joking?

And very sad reflection on the inconsistencies and mistakes that are made.
