Did anyone get a claim approved against trip.com?

I'd gladly subscribe to that list. I'm seeing a few bad ones lately.

If that became a thing I suspect management might become aware of the situation and so something about it. Don't forget that we aren't supposed to post the names of the competing websites because this thread is being monitored.
The only good thing it could do is give the filer info on whether or not it is pointless to appeal or just cancel and rebook. If they have a bad agent, it's probably best to do the latter.

In Real Life, There Are No Good Agents or Bad Agents, Just a Bunch of Desk Jockeys

Do you have a time machine that I can borrow because $99 in 2010 would still be pretty awesome.

I am currently researching BRG opportunities for September with the San Genarro Festival in NYC.

.
$99 isn't hard if you go to New York during off-season. NY has a lot of hotel space and not a lot of tourists in February!

I was musing that the OP had posted the year 2010 instead of 2020 in a freudian slip.

I am shocked. I've just got a claim (against cancelon) approved under in well under 2hrs. Maybe the LNF team has now turned a page?

I think you're the second person to report that. Unusual indeed. I don't think it's a valid website as they resell rooms that people want to get rid of, but great if it works!

Also, SPG never accepted trip.com as it was an on demand website. Not sure if things have changed with Marriott. Legacy Marriott agents seem to deny valid BRGs and approve invalid ones, so who knows!

Yes, was surprised about cancelon too, which is why I mentioned it. The trip quote I had was a flexbile rate with immediate confirmation, or so it said. However it disappeared by the time I had to file the claim so I dropped that one. Genuinely surprised this went through. Oh well they denied so many valid claims of mine that I'll take this one!

Sheraton BRG - Existing Reservation

Hi
I made a BRG a while ago - my only suggest since the Marriot rule changes.
It was a good number of months ago - and I am pretty sure it was on a non-refundable rate - (given you used to be able to BRG a non-ref vs a ref rate).
However in my Bonvoy account it clearly states that I can cancel upto 2 days before arrival.

I now see that there are better rates or similar rates to my BRG that include breakfast - has anyone seen this before - would you think I am ok to change the reservation without a problem ?

Many thanks

I had a similar situation, then the hotel charged my credit card roughly 10 days in advance of my stay. (which they shouldn't do for a flexible booking)

You might be ok to cancel - take lots of screenshots - but if you get double-charged Marriott customer service is so poor you might go through a lot of aggravation trying to convince them that the rate appeared flexible.

Your best bet might be to call the hotel and see if they will lower the rate manually for you.

I've had no issues cancelling a similar BRG online. YMMV.

Why cancel? Shouldn't it be possible to just change the reservation to a new rate/room?

HTB.

In my case, I found a better BRG rate, so I resubmitted with a new reservation.
