I had a separate issue with my account so called in today. While I had them on the phone I asked about adding these to existing reservations. After trying she said that although she could see the certs in my acct, it wasn't letting me add them to the reservation and said she believed it was because not all Marriott properties have enabled that option. She said all the previous SPG properties allowed it and recommended I just keep checking (reservation isn't until October anyway and it may be that the property is sold out due to Derbycon). Nice to know that the option, when available, can be done online instead of calling in.

Theory is, if you had not combined your accounts and had 50 nights in your MR account, then yes, you might have been able to choose 5 SNAs, with a max of 25 SNAs between the two accounts.
Don't be silly, I was posting my experience to add as a data point as others have, I never said I was expecting anything. I don't even "expect" anything at 75 nights since I already received my 10 SNAs.

Newb question: this is my first year qualifying for any benefits, do we have to apply SNAs on a per night or per stay basis?

Example, if I have a 3 night stay so I need to apply 3 certs or just 1? Cheers!

I am a long term pre-merger Marriott person and have been LTP (now LTPP) for years. While I like the new extra benefits in the combined program, I don't need extra night credits nor do I have anyone I want to gift status to. When my family travels it is all together with me. With the options offered, I took 5 SNA's for the fifty night level and 1 free night for the 75 night level. I wish they also offered 1 free night as an option for the 50 night level. Charity is always nice; however, the skeptic in me doesn't believe this will change the amount MR already donates to charity. Rather they just may put my name on it while they still get the tax break. So I think I will continue to keep my charitable giving as coming directly from me to my chose charities.

Back on topic, my SNA's showed up in my account a day after I selected the option. I did a dummy booking today and was able to apply them just fine. So now the trick will be finding a time when I actually want to use them at a property that offers them. I too fear they will expire before I get to use them. There are many cases where I would only opt for a FS property over a limited service property if I was guaranteed a suite. I guess I can still hedge my bets and book both and then cancel one of them based on the outcome of the upgrade request. Regardless it is still more than I got under the classic MR program and is a nice enhancement.

You have 10 Suite Nights, so you will apply them to your stay and it will deduct 3 from your total, leaving you with 7.

It is all or nothing - you can't just choose to apply them to the first two nights, for example.

Another not-useless DP: <10 BiB nights, >100 nights (RE, CC etc) and chose my 50 and 75 choice.

Don't wait for any email or seeing it in your overview page (I didn't). If you have more than 50/75 just navigate to the 'benefits' page and go to the bottom where it says "sign in to choose your benefit".

That still doesn’t give me anything more than the same Oops, try again error message I get when I try to select the Choice Benenfit from my account. I hope it works better for others.

Nope. Anyway I navigate it says "

We’re sorry.

You're not yet eligible to choose an Annual Choice Benefit. Once you stay at least 50 eligible nights in a qualifying period, you'll get to choose one of these Annual Choice Benefits:"

That is definitely piecemeal MR IT then because there are enough data points, mine included, that the awards don't require BiB nights. What a fustercluck.

No one "told" me this. It's exactly what's happening in my account. I merged my accounts and my SNAs sit on the Marriott side. All reservations show on the website and online that I cannot use my SNAs. It's quite likely that they still work fine if you stuck with the SPG side of the house for now. I clarified my original post that you quoted. Sorry for any confusion.

I don't mind you disagreeing but it's still the PROPERTY sets the rules of which rooms are SNA eligible. This is NOT done by corporate. I agree with you that the SNAs are issued by corporate but, again, the PROPERTY sets the room types available at that particular hotel for the SNAs. Lots of people complaining in this thread about which rooms appear for SNA use on a particular property and think that Marriott is screwing them. They aren't. The property potentially is but it's the property that set which rooms can be upgraded to.

And...it just opened up. I'd been checking it out several times through the day and it just now let me apply 4 suite upgrades to my current reservation. Gave me 4 options, 2 slightly bigger rooms and 2 junior suites on the concierge floor. I picked both of the junior suites so now to just wait and see if either hits in a couple months.
