FAQ
Do I have to show up? - Maybe. Some people have no-showed at events and still had them post. Others have had no-shows that did not post.
What is a good rate? - Around $100 is considered a good rate for a meeting that lasts an hour or two.
What should I ask for if book a meeting just for the 10 elite nights? - It is recommended to ask for a meeting room for 2 people for 30 minutes or an hour. You can say it is for an interview. No audio/visual or catering is needed, and the meeting time is flexible.
Which hotels have the lowest rates for meetings? - Typically, the lower priced brands like Fairfield, Courtyard, etc., have small meeting rooms that can be less expensive. But it depends on the location.

Nights earned in 2018 should be posting to 2018 and not seen now since there is no transaction list of nights posting. Granted IT could mess up and show the events as being 2019, but I'd expect them to go away once they get down to the end of their punch list.

Sorry, to clarify -- I'm curious to hear from people who held an event in 2018 after the change and then another this year (2019). I wouldn't be surprised if there's some IT hiccup.

Check back a few pages I do believe someone has posted getting their nights for an event in 2019 and they had 2018 events. Gotta hope they start doing something right real soon!

I found this marriott training document regarding the group posting tool. might be a good thing to send to the hotel if they have no clue what you are talking about. At least it shows the interface and notes how it should work: https://asmslobsterinkprod.blob.core...eb_city_v5.pdf

So this is what a Plat arrival amenity "should" cost, for example if one takes the local gift, or alternatively it should correspond to what the hotel saves in housekeeping labor and supplies when we do MAGC.

As you read through the manual, you can see it is indeed a complex kind of method. Page 10 also includes an "approval officer". For a franchisee hotel, there is a separate instructions on what senior manager/controls (Finance/Account Department) should look for when the junior officer submits a request using Group Posting Tool. Now that a flyertalker posted an internal manual on Flyertalk, I can say this manual really showsit's more complex than a front desk person doing some clicks on a program and you get 10 nights and why some hotels need 10-15 days to process.

Yes. This is one of of the manuals needed to operate Group Posting Tools. This one tells how technically use the Group Posting Tool for a meeting. There is at least a few more of these manuals that deal with the administration side and when and limitations of this program.

What it shows is what a JOKE of an Operation Marriott IT has become. They have run this system for 20+ years. No surprise they were hacked. They might as be running TRS80's.

Yes I also found the approval manual if anyone is interested. The form itself seems pretty simple. Though while not a front desk person doing a few clicks, I think that is because this information apparently has to be entered in manually, whereas someone at the front desk probably has this already pre-populated. To me though what this shows is that there are multiple points of failure. Assuming the person did enter everyone correctly, someone else might not ever approve it.
I tried doing 2 different events on 2 different days at the end of December, hoping to credit each number of mine then merge them. The hotel ....ed it all up, and I just found out that even though I signed 2 separate contracts, they put it in as one quote so I can only use one number
