FAQ
Do I have to show up? - Maybe. Some people have no-showed at events and still had them post. Others have had no-shows that did not post.
What is a good rate? - Around $100 is considered a good rate for a meeting that lasts an hour or two.
What should I ask for if book a meeting just for the 10 elite nights? - It is recommended to ask for a meeting room for 2 people for 30 minutes or an hour. You can say it is for an interview. No audio/visual or catering is needed, and the meeting time is flexible.
Which hotels have the lowest rates for meetings? - Typically, the lower priced brands like Fairfield, Courtyard, etc., have small meeting rooms that can be less expensive. But it depends on the location.

Held my meeting at a Courtyard yesterday, booked the day before. Was told the turnaround was too quick for a contract but the event specialist confirmed I would get 10 elite nights even though she wasn't familiar with it at first. The person who quoted me from Rewarding Events didn't seem familiar with it either - so I'm in a holding pattern until points post I guess. Sweating this one out as it's my first Rewarding Events but I need those 10 nights before I go on a 10 night mattress run that is booked (nonrefundable).

Held an event on 8/13 at courtyard and NO point and nights post on my account so far. Should I start calling to ask for it? I need to contact with the hotel or Marriott Reward?

If it has your only event this year, then you should get both points and nights if it was submitted correctly. However, if it was not your first event this year, unfortunately they are denying nights for those people if the nights didn't post before Aug 18.

You need to first find out if, when and how (the Group Posting Tool, hopefully) the hotel submitted your event. It only makes sense to contact Marriott Rewards once you know when and how the hotel submitted it, because you'll need to explain that to Marriott Rewards, and because if the hotel didn't submit, it's a problem at their end..

Has anyone had any issues with getting EQN to post for events held in China?

If you know mainland Chinese people, you know the future is the century of China and there isn't real reason to learn good English when all the major western companies like to kowtow and learn Chinese instead.

8 nights short of Platinum as of now, and probably only getting 2-4 more nights in this year. Would like to try this for the first time.
Did my RFP locally(Louisville KY) , asked for a small room for 2 hours for 5 people. Best I have received so far is $150. Should I take that or is it reasonable to email/call and haggle that down? Do I actually need to show up with guests or just go sit there myself? I've offered that my dates are flexible if that saves, but so far no dice.

What's the consensus on using online Booking tool. I am able to book a meeting room in nearby hotel for an HR for 175.
It asks for reward number. And I can do the whole booking. Will this work ? Any data points.

Very high probability it will all work just fine. The biggest hurdle is making sure the property uses the GPT to post the stay so the MR system is notified and issues the 10 nights. If they are nearby and you plan on showing up, it would be a good idea to ask, not that the FDC will know what the GPT is.

What are the actual contract terms that I need to make sure are included in the contract so that I am confident I will access the Rewarding Events - 10 EQM for first meeting. I am assuming it is a standard contract that is used often.
