If choose breakfast as Plat arrival gift option, it's a full breakfast buffet. The "Living Room" lounge is for those who book Pavillion Suites. Status will not gain you access.

Is the beach at this resort so bad ?

is the pier the only way to get on the sea ...or it can be made also by the beach just to have a bath ?

The entire hotel is on the waterfront, you can get in the sea without using the pier! The regular side of the hotel has a man-made beach by the pool you can enter the sea from, the Pavilion side doesn’t have a beach but you can walk down steps into the sea over some rocks. The sea is very shallow quite far out, it’s perfect for swimming.

I stayed over the opening weekend this summer and loved it. Particularly if you stay on the Pavilion side the buildings will feel oddly familiar if you’ve spent time in Doha (the hotel used to be owned by / was refurbished by the the Emir of Qatar). Already planning to go back.

The beach is round stones and pebbles, most beaches on Corfu are like that. There are sandy beaches, Halikounas and Issos about 20 mins drive away on the eastern side of the island.

Was considering a stay here later in August, once I spotted their cancellation policy on pretty much all rates I decided against!

1 week cancellation deadline otherwise they charge you for entire stay? Better than Mystique on Santorini which is 3 weeks.

Still in the current situation not exactly great and for many of the rates they are actually non refundable a day ofter booking, even if your staying 4 weeks later. I agree better than Mystique, but just because its better than something bad doesnt make it good and I certainly woudlnt risk it in the current circumstances where a either the Greek or your own national Government may decide to bad travel at any point until you actually land in Greece!

Yeah but asking the hotel to shoulder all the risk may not be fair either, and the UK government just seems to be adding a 2 week quarantine requirement on return, not a ban per se. Obviously it's effectively a ban, and I suspect Greece may be next, so I wouldn't book that either.

The beach itself is pebbles but almost as soon as you enter the sea it is very shallow water and smooth sand (within a few meters from shore). The sea water is very clean and calm and it is very easy walk out quite a long way before you NEED to swim. We were there last August and we enjoyed many refreshing dips and baths in the sea in-between sunbathing, although we appreciated the pool too. The sun loungers are very comfortable with thick cushions and the parasols have a service button attached so you don't need to catch anyone's attention if you want food & beverage service. If like me you have sensitive feet or you just don't like beach pebbles, I would recommend purchasing a pair of aqua shoes (made of wet-suit material) before you travel. Then you don't need to worry about using the jetty every time you want to get into the sea. It may have been sarcasm but some other guests remarked what a great idea they were and if I'd purchased mine locally.

Have an upcoming stay here in a week or so (subject to Greece staying off the UKs do not travel list!) and just received the following email from the hotel.

They’re quite heavily encouraging people to gain a negative PCR COVID test result 72hrs prior to arrival, and will reimburse you the cost (up to €300 per room) in resort credit.

Email as follows:We are excited to announce that Domes Resorts is fully prepared to welcome back its guests!

The safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff members is our top priority! We have worked hard in association with Marriott International, TUV Hellas, Ecolab, The University of Crete, Asklipios Diagnosis and the Greek state, to create our Domes New Normality protocol. As some advertised services may be impacted due to the relevant measures taken, please take the time to click on the provided link and go through the document, for your better understanding. For future updates, FAQs and more information, please also visit our website www.domesmiramare.com or should you require any additional information, our reservations team will be happy to reply to any further queries.

Part of our effort to assure the safety of our guests and our team, is the attached form, which you will be requested to completeupon your arrival to the resort. For your data safety, please do not return this form via email.

In addition, please click here to find out more about the Greek State’s compulsory Passenger Locator Form (PLF) and Travel By Air protocol.

For the convenience of our guests and the overall safety of our staff and visitors, we strongly recommend that guests voluntarily perform an acknowledged PCR lab test in their country of origin (up to max 72h before departure). As such, even if selected to be tested at entry point, visitors can avoid the entire process, by demonstrating their PCR test results and enjoy an uninterrupted holiday experience. Antibody tests, will not be accepted by the authorities due to their high inaccuracy scores / only acknowledged PCR lab tests will be accepted.

As a token of our appreciation for guests that will take a PCR lab test in their country of origin, will return the value of 300€ in a form of Resort Credit / per room / per stay (min stay 5 nights) – relevant documentation will be required. Guests not having taken a PCR test at their country of origin, may do so whilst in-resort. Our guest services team and medical associates will arrange this on their behalf, on request and Domes Resorts will return the full value of their local PCR lab test, in a form of Resort Credit.

Please allow me to clarify that the PCR testing recommended above is not compulsory. It is instead a strong recommendation, for the safety, the convenience of our mutual guests at the entry points and a mutual effort to sustain a safe in-resort environment. Please inform us, should you wish proceed with any of the above suggested testing options.

Domes Miramare in addition to its luxury adult only concept, offers great open air areas located amidst a two century old olive grove and a swimming pool with direct access to our private beach. The entire resort is beachfront and all accommodations have direct access to the sea. Whilst we assure safe distancing amongst our sun loungers, due to the proximity of our rooms from the beach, guests may even select to swim and lounge in the privacy of their own veranda, patio, or private garden. Our spacious pavilions and villas are located only steps from the seafront and enjoy spacious private gardens and the absolute luxury seclusion within the resort. Our restaurants and bars come with extensive open air spaces and the resort is located only 10 min walk from the town of Moraitika. Guests willing to travel to Corfu Old Town in safety and style, may select to use our Miramaretta luxury motor yacht evening transfer service or charter it day cruises. Our guest services team, will always be available to guide our guests with the best options for offsite outdoor activities, chillout open air bars and recommended open air restaurants, if requested.

Please confirm your reservation details within 48 hours and inform us of your arrival / departure times.

In addition, please find below the more flexible updated cancellation policy :

  • No cancellation fee is charged for cancellations received 8 days prior to the arrival date. 100% of the total due will be charged for cancellations received within 7 - 0 days prior to the clients’ arrival date.
  • Early departure or non-show will be charged 100% of the total of the non-used or remaining overnights of the reservation. Name changes, date changes or duration changes within the cancellation period, are considered cancellations and are subject to the above mentioned TCs

We stayed 10 nights there in late July and also received this email before arrival. We both had tests through NHS home kits. The result emails were accepted and we received €300 credit as promised. Enjoy your holiday!

Interesting! There was a recent story in the British press of a British tourist at another hotel in Corfu testing positive on arrival and having to quarantine (Atlantica Grand), seems Domes Miramare are keen to avoid this now. Was no discussion of testing when I stayed in July but the hotel was taking things more seriously than any of quite a few different hotels I’ve now stayed at in Greece since July, which was reassuring. I am booked to return in September all being well. I was actually tested by immigration on arrival to Greece, though, so would have been double testing anyway.

Thanks for posting about this as travelling here next weekend. Received the email, but was not going to get tested thinking it would be too much hassle to do it privately. The government home testing seems efficient now, so going to give it a go.

According to the email from the hotel, this should also mean we do not have to get tested if selected on arrival at the airport, if the border guards also accept the NHS email.

Looking forward to the stay - the app is already showing a good upgrade a week in advance, so hoping it sticks.
