FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides

cmhsieh54 in post #1965 suggests that if you have an upcoming stay and if the online system (i.e. website/app) loses your confirmation number, and your online/telephone correspondence with corporate hotlines get you nowhere, call the hotel directly and give them your name and check-in date. Chances are quite high they'll find the confirmation number on their end and they will add it back to your online profile. It's a 2-minute fix; and a better day when we all don't have to be troubled by 'bugs'.
__________________________________________________
(Below is Marriott's own guidance about this 'bugs' thread)

If you're here, you are obviously experiencing some issues with the web site. Our apologies for any inconvenience. We have an interest in giving you the best web experience possible, so here are some tips on how to get any problems resolved:

First of all, the web assistance team has this suggestion for you:

"We first suggest the normal steps of clearing their cache (temporary files) and cookies, logging out of their Marriott Bonvoy account online, then close all browser windows before trying again. Please note that clearing cookies may also remove any stored passwords in the browser.

It is important for them to log out to ensure no bad/old data is saved and so that the online account has a chance to refresh.

You may already be aware of this, but note that cache and cookies are 2 different things. The cache memory is what remembers old content for faster page loading and may cause errors after updates. Cookies are mostly only meant for tracking during the current session. Both can still remember old errors that may have existed in the browser."

You should also be aware that being on a VPN sometimes interferes with your browsing experience. Try browsing without being on a VPN and see if this fixes the issue.

If none of this resolves your issue(s), you can you can send an email to [email protected] along with any screenshots leading up to and including the error message.

It also helps if you include the following information in your email:

-What browser(s) have you tried? Is the issue happening over multiple browsers or just one?
-Are you using a desktop/laptop or a mobile device?
-If you are using mobile device does this issue persist when on a desktop/laptop?

Once we have this information, we can forward it on to the web assistance team for further review, so please be as complete as possible.

If you are having an issue with any of the Marriott Bonvoy apps, you can send the following information directly to the Marriott Bonvoy App team at [email protected]:

-What device and operating system are you using?
-What version of our app do you have installed?
-What is the problem you have encountered?

Account Activity unable to display

This started last week. No stays gave posted and my account Activity gives an error message to try again later. In the app it says there is a connection problem. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks for that trick. Same issue for me over the past week.

Lucky for you that that it only started last week. Been happening to me since I combined accounts in September. Responses range from 'it's not an issue' to 'we think it may be an issue' to' it will be fixed at end of 2019'. Customer service is useless. Ambassador is equally useless. I have missing stays but stay so frequently in so many different places its hard to pinpoint which ones.

Marriott, sort by price and rate type?? Why is this impossible

So with SPG we could sort hotels by price and compare rates, easily. With Marriott this is apparently impossible? We cannot even sort listings by price, but only by brand, city or distance. ???

I want is to do this:

Trying to find an example, I found this link:

Not an actual Marriott website issue, but the Ritz Carlton Rewards promotional email.

Its pretty much saying : they look forward to welcoming me to The Ritz Carlton in 2019 (which is normal)
But then the suggested destination is The Ritz Carlton Singapore.

Interestingly ... the property is not participated in The Ritz Carlton Rewards.

I guess if I did follow their suggestion, I will be back to basic member in 2020

With the recent data breach I figured this was as good a time as any to change my Marriott site password.

tl;dr the password change dialog is broken.

EDIT: on a hunch I tried the whole process again in incognito mode, and the change went through. So maybe something that uBlock is blocking, screws with the flow. Still feels a bit suspect, but shrug, I have unique passwords for every site.

----

The first attempt to change my password seemed to be going well -- I entered my current PW, a prospective new PW twice, and submitted. That got me a verification dialog asking if I wanted a security code sent to my email or SMS. So far so good. I entered the security code and got... a blank page.

Logout/login testing showed my new password didn't "take". So I went to the change password dialog again. This time, I don't get the security code verification because I had clicked "remember this computer" which is fine, but there is a new issue:

The second request is for "http : //auth-app:9000/aries-auth/logout" (spaces added to inhibit linkifying). I assume Chrome is unhappy because it's http and not https, but not sure how that's supposed to work when it's not even a full domain name.

Reluctantly trying to give Marriott some business. Online booking is a joke!

"Our server is being stubborn, please try again"

Try many times again in VAIN.
When can they get it right?

Imagine my surprise to see the Marriott website isn’t working tonight as I need to firm up my reservations for next week in China.

When Marriott makes it clear they don't value my business by not letting me book I just book elsewhere! Not sure why people stick with them (unless you don't have a choice b/c work, etc) when they make life so hard ???

Can't login, no prices on searches, lots of "This service is temporarily unavailable. But don't worry, we're on it. Please try again later."

- Marriott lost my 80K SPG point payment for the upcoming stay. I have still see the points deducted from my SPG account from SPG activity pre-merger. Called Marriott earlier today - was disconnected after 45 min. Called this evening - their system had crashed. Was told to call in about 30 min. Seriously? What kind of company is that? Dealing wit Marriott post Aug 2018 is such an eye-opening experience!

Still down, App as well. Sent them a message, mentioning that I had to book two stays with Hilton, as I need them booked tonight.

Unfortunately these are work related trips so I can either book through CONCUR or use our specially negotiated deep discount rates. I called the hotels and booked my reservations through the front desk and secured my upgrades at the same time which is a win in my book because I suggested that I would be booking Hilton instead
