Was Ambassador this year, but as it was a fairly marginal experience, I decided not to go for it this year so I'm finishing with 50 nights.
I wonder whether there will be a soft landing to PP (non-Amb), or will I be downgraded to Plat?

Thanks. Did you calculate your base point total manually or is there a place to pull it. I just looked at one of my go to Autographs, the Adolphus, and nightly rate pretax is there in base but not my $200 food bill. I am having the same issue at a Trubute and Renaissance and Edition. . This was just me going back a few weeks of stays I could easily lookup. Now I’m really confused as to the cause. As none of them should exclude F&B from points earnings.
I believe there are reports on there that people at legacy SPG properties aren't getting credit for F&B and incidentals. I presume that's because the legacy lightspeed system may have tracked things differently and the movement of the information wasn't be handled properly.

It was also the case at legacy Starwoods that there was a distinction between restaurants that were considered part of the hotel (even if operated separately) and those that were merely tenants. The rule always was that if the restaurant was part of the hotel, then you earned points on F&B there, but some hotel restaurants didn't count, such as the "gourmet steakhouse" type place in the former Providence (RI) Westin, RIP. [By contrast, the chain McCormick and Schmicks in the Westin Edina Galleria (MN) did count, which to me looks more like it's just a tenant.] I wonder whether the same criterion is being used to determine whether F&B spend counts for the $20K AMB requirement for those with over 100 combined nights but fewer than 100 nights in only legacy Starwood properties.

I haven't had a problem with points or spend credit for F&B.

I’ve got it across the board on multiple stays even Marriott. I submitted a bunch as part of a missing stay but you can’t leave comments so I assume the reviewer will think I’m an idiot as my “stays” did post but my base rates didn’t correctly. Maybe I assumed incorrectly but my spa charge st StR San Fran didn’t count either. I’ve emailed one of the Marriott accounts. Will try lurker.

When does the 2019 status take effect ? For those who are “soft landed” or qualified under legacy requirements- will status change on Jan 1 or later in 2019 ? Thanks for the information!

All the loyalty programs I've seen have two calendars. The first being the earning year which is typically from Jan 1 to Dec 31. A few used a rolling calendar but those are dying out. The second is the benefit year which sets the date when status drops if not earned in the previous earning year. For MPG that is now the end of January. This is mostly because it may take them that long to gather all the December stay info to make sure everything counts. Not sure if they will meet that this year and may be a ploy in their scheme of things that they don't have to fix something from last year if it's not going to change anything for the member. The "Oh Well Too Bad" approach.

What are examples of things which wouldn't change anything for an elite? We all care about points and earned rewards such as SNAs or free nights. Most of us care also about lifetime nights, even if ewe've already qualified for LTPP since the lifetime night count could matter for something in the future, such as potentially upgrade priority or some future lifetime status level. I guess lifetime points will cease to matter after the January sweeps but it should be easy to track them if one if correcting point earnings.

Color me fairly shocked that missing AMB qualification still gets you PP
