My Ambassador also emailed yesterday to promise that my points refunds for recently canceled old award stays (replaced with new award stays at the reduced rate) at the StR Bal Harbour (Oct/Nov) and StR Bahia Beach (Feb) will be processed within the next 7 days.

I think these are difficult times at SPG/ Marriott. My Ambassador has gone AWOL the last couple of days, and I've had to contact a hotel directly about a request last week - first time that's happened. Hopefully he's just got a backlog of one-off requests for people, rather than being hampered by new Marriott policies or customer volumes.

Not a problem when it's a Luxury Collection Hotel which responds to you within 2 hours anyways, but could have been annoying if it was an anonymous hard to reach place.

Overall process takes like 5 / 10 days as I remember.
It's now been ten days and no communication so far to me about my Ambassador.

Yes, I know there's the big merger mess, but PPwithAmb is supposed to be Starriott's top published elite tier.

You also can email the general Ambassador address or call the general Ambassador line for assistance.

Could Starriott be reassigning Ambassadors to help temporarily with the call center mess, ideally the elite lines? That could explain some of the AWOL reports.

my ambassador said a week ago that is unlikely they can refund points for a future stay when no other base room is available. I am going to tell her that others are able to do it and see if she responds.

From the SPG video, it looks like the average ambassador covered around 200 members, or providing 30-45 minutes of support per member, per month. Obviously, some members require more than that on an ongoing basis ...

But, I'll factor in that I've asked for assistance on trips this month more than normal because its holiday month and I wanted to make sure a last minute reservation for the 18th and 19th didn't fall through. But ... if I assume that in the last two weeks that 50 of those members have been calling and emailing about missing stays, what's happening, etc., I can understand how they can't keep up.

Additionally, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes in going from having some people working in a legacy MR ambassador program and some people to working in the legacy SPG program. Somebody must be in charge, making or thinking about changes, which always makes people nervous!

That would make sense as the Austin call center includes LC agents, etc.

Does anyone have and idea what a typical Ambassador's background and experience is? Also, has anyone every seen a job ad for Ambassadors or are they promoted from within?

My amazing Hyatt private line agent (who sometimes worked from home) was also a super-super-super escalation specialist who seemed to have some managerial/supervisory duties in that she helped to interview new hires. The current one has worked in sales at a big convention Hyatt and now works from home.

There looks to be a lot of profiles on LinkedIn for SPG ambassadors. I'm assuming some Marriott and SPG ambassadors work remotely.

I'm going to suggest the mods that we merge these threads ... maybe "Post Merger Ambassador Program?"

Are many of them hunting for new jobs?
