Huge thanks to Horace for this list (which is much simpler to understand than Marriott's T&Cs!)

Daily Breakfast for Platinum Elite and Above

Six categories:

1. Breakfast for member + 1 in the lounge. If the hotel does not have a lounge or the lounge is closed, member can choose 750 points OR continental breakfast for member + 1 in the restaurant. A limited number of hotels provide 1,000 points each day the lounge is closed instead of a choice (Through June 30, 2024). Any of these benefits are in addition to the Platinum Elite welcome gift.

Autograph Collection (excluding resorts)
Courtyard (properties with a lounge only; Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Middle East, and Africa only)
Delta* (excluding resorts)
JW Marriott (excluding resorts)
Marriott (excluding resorts)
Renaissance (excluding resorts)
* many Delta properties provide breakfast from an Elite Pantry as an alternative to a Signature Lounge, in which case the hotel does not need to provide breakfast for member + 1 the restaurant.

2. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant for member + 1 as a Platinum Elite welcome gift option (not in addition to it).

Aloft
Autograph Collection (resorts only)
Delta (resorts only)
Four Points
The Luxury Collection
JW Marriott (resorts only)
Le Mridien
Marriott (resorts only)
Protea
Renaissance (resorts only)
St. Regis
Sheraton **
Tribute Portfolio
W Hotels
Westin **
** Marriott Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, and Westin Vacation Club properties are not Marriott, Sheraton, and Westin hotels/resorts.

3. Breakfast in lounge for member + 1, if the hotel has a lounge. This is in addition to the Platinum Elite welcome gift, which could be breakfast for member + 1 in the restaurant. No alternative benefit if the lounge is closed.

Le Mridien (only at locations with a lounge)
Sheraton (only at locations with a lounge)
Westin (only at locations with a lounge)

4. Daily U.S. $10 F&B credit for member + 1 as a Platinum Elite welcome gift option (not in addition to it). Can be applied toward breakfast or toward other F&B purchase in the hotel restaurant or bar. Does not accrue over multiple-night stay.

AC Hotels
Courtyard (locations without a lounge only, which means most locations)
MOXY ***

5. Breakfast for all guests included in room rate, regardless of status or membership

Element ****
Fairfield (except Fairfield Asia Pacific hotels) ****
Residence Inn (NO breakfast at Residence Inn New Orleans French Quarter/CBD)
SpringHill Suites
TownePlace Suites
**** very few exceptions; check official hotel website

6. No complimentary daily breakfast, even for Platinum Elite and Above

Marriott Executive Apartments
Marriott Vacation Club / MVC Pulse / Grand Residences by Marriott

Note: This list does not identify specific properties that deviate from the published benefits. In some cases, exceptions are identified in the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program Terms & Conditions or on specific property webpages. Exceptions are few, but can be an unpleasant or pleasant surprise, depending on whether the property provides less or more than the published benefits.Through June 30, 2024, the following properties in the United States do not provide free continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant in the event the Lounge is closed but do offer 1,000 Points in lieu of breakfast. I do hope you will keep you stay at W Punta Mita as it is a very lovely hotel and I know you will enjoy the property.

So, if they dont honor their own rules what recourse do we have ? Ask for a manager, call the Elite line ?

Pick hotels that don't cheat on benefits. Or move your business to a different program. Those are the choices Marriott has left us.

Another cheat on Platinum Amenity:

Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort

The T&C state that Delta Hotels in Canada and US:
"1,000 Points per Stay or U.S. $10 food and beverage ("F&B") credit per Stay"

Except when it it a 'Resort"
RESORTS only:
United States, Canada, Europe: 1,000 Points per Stay or breakfast in restaurant per day of Stay for Member +1

This property now charges a daily resort fee (its a scam), and it falls under the "Resorts" category.

I checked in at 11 pm after a 21-hour day and was offered 1,000 points or a $10 voucher for my Titanium amenity. Something sounded off to me, but i was tired so i went to bed. The next morning I double-checked the T&C and re-read that as a resort, they need to offer Breakfast +1 in the restaurant.

I went to the front desk, and the Agent acknowledged that yes, she understands the T&C as she has read them, but that they have been specifically tasked by Management NOT to offer the Breakfast +1, but to offer the $10 instead. They gave me a coupon for the breakfast +1 as I insisted that is what I am entitled to.

On an unrelated note, I asked for a 1 PM checked out.... after a lot of humming and hawwing (and a mention of 'maybe 12:30"), the Agent went to the back and said they will make an "exception' for me and allow me to stay in the room till 1 PM. I understand "resorts' have a different late checkout policy, but really????

I wont be returning to this property and will choose another Marriott or another chain on my next regular stay.

Need a bit of advice here please.

I recently stayed at two Marriott Hotels in the UK as Titanium.

Chepstow offered me 1,000 points welcome gift OR breakfast. I took breakfast.
Swindon offered me 1,000 points welcome gift or $10 F&B credit. I took points. However they also offered me 750 extra points for not having a lounge, but I never got these.

Reading the Ts&Cs. I believe I should have been offered 1,000 points or $10 F&B PLUS 750 for no lounge at both properties. Am I right?

Different benefits at each!

St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club is a resort.

The Welcome Gift choices for Platinum Elite and higher in the United States, Canada, Europe are 1,000 Points per Stay or breakfast in restaurant per day of Stay for Member + 1. The guest, not the resort, makes the choice.

Because it's a Marriott-branded resort, there is no lounge access benefit and thus no breakfast associated with the lounge access benefit.

Swindon Marriott Hotel is a hotel.

The Welcome Gift choices for Platinum Elite and higher in the United States, Canada, Europe are 1,000 Points per Stay or U.S. $10 food and beverage ("F&B") credit per Stay. The guest, not the hotel, makes the choice. Please notice that breakfast is not a Welcome Gift choice.

In addition to the Welcome Gift, there is guaranteed lounge access. If there is no lounge or the lounge is closed, then the guest has a choice of daily breakfast in the restaurant for Member + 1 or 750 Points per day.

It's all spelled out in the Marriott Bonvoy Terms & Conditions: https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/terms/default.mi

The breakfast benefit seems to now be way more complicated than it should be. But also, at least in CONUS, the breakfast quality tends to be mediocre at a lot of the properties I've visited in the last twelve months, to the point where I might start taking the alternative benefit and just get food elsewhere.

I used to not expect much and just go with the convenience of having a quick bite to eat to start the day, but sometimes it's not even good for that. Note: I'm far from being a food snob, but for example the scrambled "eggs" are horrible... and when I thought they couldn't get any worse, they came out with an egg whites only version which is bordering on vile.

That was a bit rant-ish, but cathartic. Thank you for listening.

I actually like the "balanced breakfast sandwich" in Courtyard bistros, but that and one cup of coffee often exceeds the $10 credit even before tip. Cheap Marriott. Cheap bonvOY. The previous welcome amenity of 400 points + one market item was worth more than $10.

Update: it looks like persistent pays off. After emailing several Marriott departments, as well as the hotel, I received word that effective on 4/29, the W Punta Mita is changing their welcome breakfast amenity to the full buffet. Im
unclear if this is the hot or continental buffet, but its definitely a step up from toast, coffee, and juice.

I also noticed that were several recent reviews on TripAdvisor criticizing the hotels lack of recognition to elite members, which management replied to. Cant help but think this also played a role.

Staying there at the end of this month. Fingers crossed they actually honor this statement, but I have all the emails and names of employees that I will share with management if they try and overlook the benefit.

Ive been wondering how difficult it would be to create an AI which could work out what benefits are due. Ive previously thought about doing an Excel Macro or relational database, but the clauses are all a bit too random to work.
