Huge thanks to Horace for this list (which is much simpler to understand than Marriott's T&Cs!)

Daily Breakfast for Platinum Elite and Above

Six categories:

1. Breakfast for member + 1 in the lounge. If the hotel does not have a lounge or the lounge is closed, member can choose 750 points OR continental breakfast for member + 1 in the restaurant. A limited number of hotels provide 1,000 points each day the lounge is closed instead of a choice (Through June 30, 2024). Any of these benefits are in addition to the Platinum Elite welcome gift.

— Autograph Collection (excluding resorts)
— Courtyard (properties with a lounge only; Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Middle East, and Africa only)
— Delta* (excluding resorts)
— JW Marriott (excluding resorts)
— Marriott (excluding resorts)
— Renaissance (excluding resorts)
* many Delta properties provide breakfast from an Elite Pantry as an alternative to a Signature Lounge, in which case the hotel does not need to provide breakfast for member + 1 the restaurant.

2. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant for member + 1 as a Platinum Elite welcome gift option (not in addition to it).

— Aloft
— Autograph Collection (resorts only)
— Delta (resorts only)
— Four Points
— The Luxury Collection
— JW Marriott (resorts only)
— Le Méridien
— Marriott (resorts only)
— Protea
— Renaissance (resorts only)
— St. Regis
— Sheraton **
— Tribute Portfolio
— W Hotels
— Westin **
** Marriott Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, and Westin Vacation Club properties are not Marriott, Sheraton, and Westin hotels/resorts.

3. Breakfast in lounge for member + 1, if the hotel has a lounge. This is in addition to the Platinum Elite welcome gift, which could be breakfast for member + 1 in the restaurant. No alternative benefit if the lounge is closed.

— Le Méridien (only at locations with a lounge)
— Sheraton (only at locations with a lounge)
— Westin (only at locations with a lounge)

4. Daily U.S. $10 F&B credit for member + 1 as a Platinum Elite welcome gift option (not in addition to it). Can be applied toward breakfast or toward other F&B purchase in the hotel restaurant or bar. Does not accrue over multiple-night stay.

— AC Hotels
— Courtyard (locations without a lounge only, which means most locations)
— MOXY ***
*** some MOXY property are more generous, providing full breakfasts to those who apply their F&B credits toward breakfast, with no additional charge

5. Breakfast for all guests included in room rate, regardless of status or membership

— Element ****
— Fairfield (except Fairfield Asia Pacific hotels) ****
— Residence Inn (NO breakfast at Residence Inn New Orleans French Quarter/CBD)
— SpringHill Suites
— TownePlace Suites
**** very few exceptions; check official hotel website

6. No complimentary daily breakfast, even for Platinum Elite and Above

— Design Hotels
— Edition
— Fairfield Asia Pacific hotels
— Gaylord Hotels
— Marriott Executive Apartments
— Marriott Vacation Club / MVC Pulse / Grand Residences by Marriott
— The Ritz-Carlton / Ritz-Carlton Reserve / Ritz-Carlton Residence Club
— Vistana / Sheraton Vacation Club / Westin Vacation Club

Note: This list does not identify specific properties that deviate from the published benefits. In some cases, exceptions are identified in the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program Terms & Conditions or on specific property webpages. Exceptions are few, but can be an unpleasant or pleasant surprise, depending on whether the property provides less or more than the published benefits.Through June 30, 2024, the following properties in the United States do not provide free continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant in the event the Lounge is closed but do offer 1,000 Points in lieu of breakfast. These properties include:

• The Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection

• Boston Marriott Copley Place

• Boston Marriott Long Wharf

• Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

• JW Marriott Essex House New York City

• JW Marriott New Orleans

• JW Marriott San Francisco Union Square

• JW Marriott Washington, DC

• The Lexington Hotel, Autograph Collection

• Monterey Marriott

• New York Marriott Marquis®

• Philadelphia Marriott Downtown

• Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel

• Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel

• Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel

• Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel

• Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel

• Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina

Sheraton PVR & Marriott PVR

I had Marriott Corporate call PVR Marriott about Breakfast and they still denied it.Only 4 oz of Jumex Juice (Carton),miniature croissants (2), Fruit Plate (2 slices of Papaya,4 grapes,2 slices of watermelon).eventually decided to pay extra for Breakfast, which was not worth it.
By the way,I asked for milk for Coffee from the Deli to make coffee in the Room,I was told Only 1 oz is Free, otherwise I would have to pay extra if I wanted to have milk for two cups of Coffee.
This Place is amazingly Beautiful,But the "Nickel & Diming" has to end.Hopefully Marriott takes notice of it before granting Owners more Marriotts.

At the Sheraton PVR you do not have a choice of selecting breakfast as a welcome amenity. Breakfast is available in the Lounge only. When they refused my request, I called Marriott who confirmed from the Corporate side that the property does not provide breakfast in the restaurant.

This is not correct. The Sheraton Buganvilias Resort and Convention Center may have a lounge, but it still has to offer breakfast. The breakfast in the lounge is not part of the breakfast choice at check-in. These two breakfast benefits are confused as being one in the same, but they are in fact separate benefits from separate provisions of the terms and conditions. Unfortunately, you can't rely on anything Marriott's customer service agents tell you. You need to escalate these things to corporate management, which admittedly won't resolve until after your stay.

Sheraton Buganvilias Resort and Convention Center in Puerto Vallarta owes $100 USD compensation every time it fails to offer a choice of welcome gifts to a Platinum Elite (or higher) member who qualifies — but only if that member claims the compensation before checking out (and preferably much sooner than that).

Go to the Terms & Conditions at https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/terms/default.mi

Scroll down for the table with the header "ELITE WELCOME GIFT FOR PLATINUM ELITE MEMBERS AND ABOVE"

For "St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, Sheraton, Le Méridien, Westin, Tribute Portfolio," the Platinum Elite Welcome Gift choices are "1,000 Points per Stay or amenity per Stay or breakfast in restaurant per day of Stay for Member +1 (including Resorts)." The guest selects the option, not the hotel. The compensation for failure is $100 USD.

Some properties are specifically excluded in the Terms & Conditions. Sheraton Buganvilias Resort and Convention Center is not one of them.

If hotels find themselves paying out $100 often, their management will eventually get the message that cheating Elite guests out of published benefits is bad business.

Of course, every agent at Marriott Bonvoy Guest Services should have a decent understanding of the Terms & Conditions and be willing and able to straighten out hotels that fail to comply (or at least to get supervisor to do so). The line, "I called Marriott who confirmed from the Corporate side that the property does not provide breakfast in the restaurant," would indicate a disgusting lack of training and competence at Marriott Bonvoy Guest Services. Sadly, there have been many such reports on this forum.

Can I confirm that as a platinum at a Westin with a club, I can have breakfast(maybe continental) in the club lounge through lounge access and amenity gift, which can be breakfast in the restaurant for member + 1 or points or something else?

Thanks.

Yes, you can. Most people don't, but you can. There are many examples of this. Moana Surfrider Westin in Honolulu being an example.

I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately I think a lot of people are pushovers. Just look at all the resorts charging resort fees for internet access and not providing an alternative amenity as required by the terms and conditions. This highlights the need for Marriott having a special department to enforce claims when properties refuse to provide the compensation. Gary Leff raised the problem with having no where to go when Marriott's customer service gives the wrong answer on View from the Wing today or yesterday. This is the same thing.

No. I'm telling you that you could have demanded $100 (not $200) by citing a Marriott Bonvoy guarantee — but only before you checked out — because you were told that you could only have breakfast in the lounge and were not offered the published Elite Welcome Gift choices for a Platinum Elite (or higher) guest when you checked in at the front desk on you arrival day.

Unless you're still a hotel and have not yet checked out, it's now too late.

Did you get in touch with Marriott Corporate through email or phone, and how did you get them to call the hotel? I’m staying at the W Punta Mita next month and have heard the elite breakfast is coffee and toast. Seeing what my chances are of having corporate intervene to help.

FFS this new breakfast thing is awful in so many ways. Elites spending +50-100 nights getting screwed up by hotel properties/Marriott in order to save a couple of few dollars. Just give your guests what they are entitled to and be done with it.

It was better before. Are you holding platinum status and above? Here have your free breakfast in the main restaurant. Done. Simple.

I think most if not all Marriott Asian property did this already (except RC)

Maybe the fact that Marriott have almost 20times property in North America make enforcement difficult.

Sounds like Marriott have similar issue with Accor that they have problem in their home turf (eu properties for accor)

As an update I reached out to Marriott customer service regarding the breakfast amenity and W Punta Mita and received the following message:

Our hotels typically offer Continental breakfast without the eggs as the Platinum amenity. If you would like to upgrade to the Hot Buffet is $38.00 USD per two guests per day.

I do hope you will keep you stay at W Punta Mita as it is a very lovely hotel and I know you will enjoy the property.
