^glad to see breakfast has improved! Any recommendations on dining here or even nearby options? Appreciate they are likely to be limited.

Not really near, but we are going to The Hinds Head in Bray. Fat Duck also possible if interested in trying a Blumenthal place.

Was looking forward to a couple of summer staycations I had booked here and sadly received an email this week saying they are both cancelled - hotel not sure when it is reopening again but possibly not until November. I imagine this hotel is more reliant than most on both UK corporate group bookings and US visitors to make a profit, neither of which are likely for months. Hope for the sake of the staff they manage to reopen soon.

My early August stay is intact for now! Surprised at this, I’d have assumed this place would maybe see some business being so close to London, and with the UK having a shortage of luxury hotels outside of cities.

My stays were in July for reference, I note that it doesn't seem they are now accepting new bookings until 1st November. My stays haven't been forcibly cancelled, just received an email saying they won't be possible. I think the pending UK air bridge announcement can't help this hotel either (I have quickly gone from planning UK staycations to working out where I can go in Greece / Spain / Cyprus this summer instead).

Very telling if they aren’t accepting new bookings!

I am assuming you booked on points, hence the soft cancellation? Any talk of a rebooking at current rates, or some kind of resolution?

Offering to rebook to another date at same price but advising against any date before 1st November. Very fair policy.

Same price in points? Very fair! Like yourself I have more than one reservation, albeit from August - October.

Confirmed that they won’t be opening before mid November, allowed reservations to be amended to any date next year. Seems odd that they are opening then, having missed out on the potential Summer and October half term market, and so I’m sceptical it will open at all this year.

They have renegaded on this offer. Have reached out re. rebooked dates and advised that the rate needs to be refreshed to current rates (which in some cases is double the points paid), as Marriott advised the certificates will no longer be valid next year. Not sure if that’s correct, timing seems odds, a first world problem right now never the less.

This is going to Category 7 after March 3rd. Considering pretty much every weekend night at the property is Standard or Peak thanks to the “dynamic” redemption calendar, then I think the excellent value of this property for points is probably finally coming to an end.
