Sheraton on the Park, Sydney

A solid property with the best club lounge in the network with views of Sydney Harbour and two balconies. A rooftop pool, gym, steam and sauna.

It's currently being refurbed and it looks even better.

IMHO: location beats Fasano and the Copacabana Palace. Of course the latter are far better and nicer hotels. But their location is inferior. Only the Sheraton boasts a semi-private beach.

Btw. Plat amenities are extremely nice at this Sheraton!
I had a Pilot friend who always stayed at this hotel during layovers years ago. One morning, he took an early walk on that "semi-private beach" and found a dead body that had washed up on it overnight.

You beat me to it. Sheraton Lima is my all time favorite Sheraton. ^

Nothing good enough to call a favourite but...

Good:
Sheraton Grand Edinburgh - great club lounge
Sheraton Berlin - likewise
Sheraton Fuerteventura - doesn't punish Plats for being at a resort/on award stay
Sheraton La Caleta - great lounge for Plats
Sheraton Puerto Vallarta - decent enough value

Plenty of bad, unfortunately

Worst (outside of airport locations):
Sheraton Panama City good views but shocking rooms

Thumbs up

I don't think there are very many knock-out Sheratons, but there are more decent ones than popular opinion gives credit for. I think my personal standout ones are Sydney, Honolulu, and Dubrovnik.

The current best-in-class one is Sheraton Macau. This is generally a very mediocre property -- the largest Sheraton in the world, afaik, in a drab location, but with generally generous upgrades to suites of 800 to 2000sqft. Currently, and this is what makes it amazing, the club is closed for refurbishment, and you can access two of the casino buffet restaurants for evening happy hour that retail at some US$60pp. One of these has a full bar, where drinks like JW Blue, Hennessy XO, and Martell XO flow freely. On mid-week BRGs of US$75, this wouldn't be a bad way to sail toward Plat re-qualification.

Short list for me

-Lisbon - wasn't the story this was supposed to be a W initially (first in Europe?), but became a Sheraton? It shows - nice furnishings.
-Seattle - new-ish feeling, big but not overwhelming
-Columbus - not amazing, but some good unique corner views, & mainly for the gym on the ~20th floor overlooking the Capitol building
-Nashville - has great local touches, was amazed that it was actually a Sheraton (in a good way)

The best - Sheraton Park Lane (London). Never went pre-reno, but post, it's incredibly nice, on par IMO with some of the London LC offerings.

The worst - Sheraton Northbrook (Chicago). Never failed to have poor service there, bland new Sheraton design direction.

This is easy- been a huge Sheraton fan my whole life- I agree that while many are mediocre (especially in North America), there are some outstanding properties.

For me the standouts are:

Sheraton Tel Aviv
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok
Sheraton Grande Taipei
Sheraton Hsinchu, Taiwan
Sheraton Waikiki
Sheraton Park Lane - London
Sheraton Buenos Aires

These have some combination of a great location, awesome staff, great lounges and/or Platinum recognition and great suites.

Oh wow. But I guess such surprise could have happened anywhere. Not sure the corps picked out specifically the Sheraton

I would rank Taipei, Xiamen, Frankfurt as the best.
Until a couple of years ago I would have included D-Cube, but I think they
have become rather stingy on room upgrades ( 0 for my last 10 or so stays.)

the Sheraton FRA does have a spacious lounge, however the food offerings are just OK IMO.

I have not stayed in any outside the US so...The nicest one (probably because it was less then a year at the time) I have been in was Mckinney Tx.

The best one location wise was the one on Kauai's south shore. The buildings and rooms themselves were in dire need of a renovation, awesome location on a great beach though.

Sheraton Maui - stayed there and had a great ocean-view room looking out over Black Rock. Unlike most of the other hotels in Kaanapali, the Sheraton doesn't feel like a hulking monstrosity (Hyatt, Westin, Whaler's, Marriott) that's too close to the beach. The Sheraton Kauai is next on my list.

I'm going to give a Sheraton (Grand) in the US some credit. Had several stays in Sheraton Grand LA post the renovation and they have done a fantastic job.

The lounge is well stocked and very open (great view from 30+ floor), the check-in lobby has been redesigned and much cleaner than before and lastly the elevators became MUCH MUCH quieter!!

I've been to the Sheraton Tel Aviv for drinks… thought it was kinda bland.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok is great, but that's a Luxury Collection property.

I do love the Sheraton Waikiki.
