My favorite so far is St. Regis Venice. Absolutely beautiful hotel, steps from St. Mark's, and great service.

Updated St. Regis tier list. Forgot to include Beijing in my last one but it’s nothing special anyway. This is definitely a top 5 favorite hotel flag for me. Below Four Seasons and Rosewood but above Mandarin Oriental.

St. Regis Tier List


Excellent-

St. Regis Saadiyat Island (very underrated beach, great hard product, and a great soft product. The Park Hyatt next door is also excellent)

St. Regis Miami Bal Harbour (incredible hard product, good soft product if you don’t fuss too much over elite upgrades)

St. Regis New York (amongst the city’s top tier hotels with an amazing soft product and a very traditional but still luxurious hard product)


Great-

St. Regis Bangkok (Tbh they are a light renovation away from being excellent. The hard product is great but definitely showing it’s age in some areas. The soft product was the best I have ever experienced. I have never felt more welcome at a hotel and I have genuinely missed this feeling since traveling to other hotels.)

St. Regis Shanghai Jingan (really great hotel, solid location for Didi, and really great soft service but there are so many excellent hotels in Shanghai)


Good-

St. Regis Beijing (it’s a fine hotel but not competitive with other excellent hotels in Beijing such as the Rosewood Beijing)


OK-

St. Regis Tianjin (fine hotel, cool building, but nothing special for Asia)

St. Regis Houston (encountered an issue but reasonable service recovery, inconvenient location)

St. Regis Washington D.C. (nothing bad but nothing special, again rooms, great location)



Bad-
St. Regis Shanghai Pudong (reflagged as the Hongta Luxury Collection, was in dire if need of a reno even before the deflag)

Very excited for the St. Regis Chicago. I have stays booked for the St. Regis San Francisco and the St. Regis Atlanta coming up later this year and a stay booked for the St. Regis Toronto early next year (hopefully not too ambitious).

Visiting Mexico is very complicated for me right now so I doubt I will visit St. Regis Mexico City any time soon. Any further thoughts on the St. Regis Aspen?

Also considering going to the opening of the St. Regis Deer Valley (tbh not entirely sure when it’s even opening).

Updated my tier list. Upon further reflection, I bumped up St. Regis Bangkok and bumped down St. Regis Miami. STR Miami is probably objectively the superior property but the STR Bangkok gave me amazing treatment. I want this list to be reflective of my experiences so I swapped them out. Also added the STR SF to excellent. Very impressed with that hotel.

St. Regis Chicago: I will visit this property as soon as I can after it opens. Very excited for this. Strongly considering purchasing a pied a terre here.

St. Regis Deer Valley and St. Regis Aspen: I am really only visiting these properties just because they’re check-list items for me. Feels kind of bad to get suckered into the loyalty game but I just want to do it lol.

St Regis Bali is my favorite tropical . St Regis Deer Valley is my favorite winter wonderland. I asked my wife to marry me on the beach at the St Regis Princeville. The night of our wedding we stayed at the St Regis New York. Now I'm dreaming over which St Regis will be my sons first. Cap Cana? Kanai? Longboat Key? My first was SF, been hooked ever since.

Just stay last week at the St Regis Florence. It was magic. They are running on very low occupancy. Stay on points. But they just made us feel like royalties! The upgrade to a superior suite with balcony over the Arno was magical too!

Still love St. Regis Deer Valley even though SNAs are no longer accepted and they aren't nearly as generous with upgrades as they once were. It's one of the best redemption values out there, and I'm hoping to get in at least one more next year before the dynamic pricing kicks in.

Randomly, I also got engaged on the beach at St. Regis Princeville. I really wish they would have kept that property and Monarch Beach. They weren't the best, but lots of great memories at both.

St. Regis Florence is still probably my favorite and one of my best stays ever, but I haven't been back in years. Bal Harbour and Punta Mita used to be way up there, but they've fallen off a bit in recent years.

I haven't been to SR Bali, but it's on my list. Bora Bora and Maldives were both outstanding, and will be hard to beat.

St Regis Bangkok was surprisingly mediocre.

Revisiting this thread 5 years later. Reflecting on my St Regis stays, it becomes apparent why I don't stay at the brand very often (aside from me avoiding Marriott chain hotels because of the issues with Bonvoy). A version of this of my Luxury Collection hotel visits would be significantly more positive:

I am not sure I am a normal Flyertalker. My experience with St. Regis is different. Because of $300+ Credit from centurion service, I always take account of this when I choose hyatt or Marriott. For some lower priced St. Regis, I always choose stay there if it is 2-3 nights stay.

St. Regis Beijing, Shanghai jingan, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Moscow abu khaki, lasha, Singapore, hongkong and dubai Palm fall into these category. I do not remember I did not get upgrade to suite in these locations. Service are all OK but I do not value much about it as long as I get a big suite.

I did love St. Osaka when it is lower category of SPG which made it perfect place to burn the points. Now it is total different story. In Osaka, I love intercontinental more because of it’s perfect location and bigger room.

For other higher priced St. Regis, sometimes I choose other hotels because of value.
Like St. Regis deer valley, I chose Waldorf Estonia by using annual weekend certificate or Hyatt centric by suite upgrade certificate.

St. Regis Maldives has a special value because if you redeem points you only need add $200 per night to get a two-bedrooms overwater villa, which is perfect for my family.

I stayed St. Regis New York twice but most time I choose park hyatt.

Most St. Regis are good but some are not worth it.

Normally I stay hyatt and marriott and occasionally intercontinental and Hilton.

I would add the St Regis Perth and the St Regis Cairo to your A class. The Cairo location for suites and service and the former for style and location. Singapore and Bangkok are both nice but are no where the top in their respective locations so agree on those and indeed all your B and C class save perhaps Kuala Lumpur which I like. Trust your right about Mumbai as I am staying at that hotel for the first time next month.
